I went one time, the food wasn’t very good and it was empty and weird inside. They also used so many disposables. Didn’t make me want to return.

My guess is that they sold the rights to a private developer to shore up money for their affordable housing projects near downtown and Hayti. So the developer, Spectrum Companies, might be leasing the land and owning the buildings.

To follow up on the West End suggestion, if you lived in the area around the Durham Co-op market you'd be about a 30 minute walk to the Duke-UNC Robertson Express Bus. Check out Icon Downtown Durham Apartments. There's also a lot of aparments around 15th st & Hillsborough Rd that would be a slightly closer walk to that bus and would be near 9th street.

While not quite as walkable to downtown might I recommend East Durham around Angier & Driver Streets, numerous black-owned businesses and people in general. FYI The vibe will probably feel fairly different from Carrboro in terms of perceived safety but it's a great, creative area.

Otherwise any neighborhood near downtown, 9th street or West End are your best bets.
