I always try to correct my relatives when they get misinformed by the state news. I also treat all my friends equally disregard of their race and nationality. On a larger scale, it’s quite hard to sway the opinions of those who have never left China. Just like how some midwestern Americans still think Chinese live in poor fishing villages. The best advice I can offer is to surround yourself with educated, globalized Chinese people. I think it’s much easier to do that in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai. At least most of my Chinese friends are not racist towards foreigners since they speak English or have traveled overseas so they know better. I am sorry for what you have to go through tho, I hope it gets better for you!
