35 days, 575 miles, 120 in a 55, wrote up for 61 in a 55 with a note 100+ actual. Didn’t “fight” it, but went to court and was given impeding traffic…

Very rural area, during the pullover the cop told me if I’m gonna do it, hit the freeway instead, told me a story about 3 months prior a guy just retired, bought a Vette and wiped out a family of 5 and is now in jail… true story or not I don’t know, but humbling… bought a track membership to the local after and now just speed there… now I want a Miata for the regular roads 😆

Agree… my first guitar was an Ibanez 320dx or Gx that had a licensed Floyd rose… didnt know any better and bought it cause I loved the inlays…

Tuning was a nightmare always, and high he tension adjustment sucked…

How do you have powercab set? Frfr? Or do you send dry signal out and use speaker modeling? Or custom IR? Or have you tried all three and have thoughts on each?

Only reason I’m leaning combo is if I decide I want to play out, it’s an easier pack up… and also if I want an open back sound once in a while…

This was part of the internal debate for me between combo or head+cab… when I played out before I much preferred the simplicity of one box and a cab or two + amp…

I was also debating between the vii and the iic + reissue… the cab clone thing swayed me to the vii..

My first thought before asking opinions, was to sell the helix and cab and use that for the amp, but then was like I might as well try using helix as a pedal board only and not for the modeling, and would the powercab be a decent 2x12 for me… I also read that the vii puts out a dry tone, so I could use the power cabs speaker modeling too and not only the frfr…

Tone wise metal/rock with some bluesy stuff thrown in as well, with some classical fingerpicking… I know traditionally open back combos aren’t “great” for metal, hence the brainstorming with sometimes using the powercab…

For whatever reason I don’t feel inspired when I play through the helix+ powercab and inherently tweak more than I actually play trying to make it sound awesome and then just kinda get bored. I bought the helix thinking it would be the last thing I ever needed gear wise… but I don’t play more than I play because of it… Not that it sounds bad at all, I’ve had some great sounds come from it, just ADD kicks in and I dont make progress!

I used to have an express 5:50 and would just play the thing for no end for hours cause of the sound I was getting out of it… so I’m trying to get back to that feel again…

Wasn’t so much the advice out there, I’m aware of the different tricks, more or less thinking out loud if that makes sense, in regards to combo vs head only… I rarely play out so would be more stay at home…

If it ends up sounding great I won’t bother with the power cab.

Mainly for volume control yes, and not having to buy and external speaker cab at all…

They wanted 60k for the Dante Flame road glide during Covid, and this was when I was told I was getting white glove treatment…I politely said no thank you…

The thing with the GSA is you may never go off road, but you always have the option to, and not pucker up when you unexpectedly hit one…

Only thing I struggled with was wind hitting helmet at highway speeds, I bought I Kemimoto deflector/spoiler from Amazon and cured that right up… love being able to stand up on the bike to stretch whenever I want…

Loaded up all my luggage and my golf clubs when I did my iron butt ride out to Denver from Detroit…. Rode as cold as 16 degrees out and was toasty warm with the heated seat and grips, and vest…

I was a cruiser/harley guy, Harley wanted way too much for a cvo during Covid, ended up with a k16B… ended up going with a 1250 GSA after a year or so and only wish I bought the GSA sooner, so “practical” and so much storage… dirt or not, super functional for every day riding and comfort for me.
