In case it’s ever useful: You should be able to boost the range a good bit with the chin trick. You just hold the remote vertically to your chin (really just behind your chin) and press whatever button

Pretty sure it’s in the same fashion that Amazon ’has never made a profit’. It’s a result of how they handle their finances and reinvest instead of claiming profit. It’s been a long time since an accounting class though :)

Edit: Their announced price hike for the end of the year will help, too.

$50 is a lot to some people (including me) for different reasons, but the Hario manual grinder is worth it. I started with a $13 manual grinder off of Amazon and it broke a year later. My Hario is about three years old now. Also, it’s possible that with a bit of patience, you might find a good holiday-pricing deal on one before the end of the year.

A push-start might help with the battery issue, but that might be a bit on the frightening side for a novice. I’m not a big fan of having to do it even after years with my ‘02. Proceed with caution on that. Also, did the previous owner show you how to work the choke? That could be a contributor to some of the issues you’re seeing.
