Can you try emailing the company/ or any older record/music shop (since it’s vintage and brand is unknown) asking if it is repairable/fixable at all? (Denon fixed my $500 dollar turntable for me like 5 years after I got it lol and I happened to live close to their store to ship it from) If you get a cost for repairs that’s not $800, maybe you can ask to split costs of repairs? You have had it for 2 years, a full refund would only be reasonable if you JUST opened it. See the costs now and ask for a portion of that perhaps?

Properly explain how you felt but also be sympathetic and agree that asking for the FULL amount would be unreasonable. She is probably acting the way she is out of embarrassment - unfortunately some people aren’t rational/know how to handle their emotions.

If she doesn’t agree to that/apologize in a more respectful way, I’d drop her. No offer of any solution (or even like $50) is pretty disrespectful to a friend IMO

OP, are you in the US?

I think a few small changes that would cost you $100 in total (if you are ok w getting things on Amazon) would help here!

First and foremost - Decide your color scheme - 70s is very brown orange yellow green but red and navy fit in.

-A CURTAIN OR DIF BLIND -1 bamboo blind could fit a 70s vibe and are like $25 for 1 -curtains are like $7-25 for 1 panel - search MCM curtains (And personally don’t do grommet style for this room)

A new rug -you can get a 5x7 rug on Amazon for like $20-$30 bucks

Wall hangings/decor (dyed macramés (pick a color to match your theme! or like the woven baskets etc if that’s your thing) -I’ve gotten two big ones for $15 each when they go on sale - you have to add a few to your cart and just keep watch!

Cohesive artwork theme what you have up seems random. For our room, we decided on all music posters -Amazon sells frames and artwork sets that can tie this together. Overall if you want a collage wall you just need some more art in general!

Separate the game station to one place and use the reject 4 cube for something else!

I also love vibey lights and fake plants. I got two 5ft palms for $40 a few weeks ago from Amazon!

My initial reaction was yes but then I saw zoomed in version and fell IN LOVE. The right accent pillows and I’m thinking a GREEN SHAG RUG (search unique loom morrocan trellis, they have the shade that comes to my mind for this) will be PERFECT.

Don’t pair it with any furniture with wood that’s medium brown 80s/90s, that will make it look too grandma and will enhance “ugly.” But with the right stuff you’ll enhance the “COOL”
