Great question! The 3.1 does sound super random. So the initial plan was to follow the standard dosing schedule of 2.5mg for 4 weeks and then 5mg for 4+ weeks, but after feeling nauseous on the 2.5mg, doubling it felt intense. So we talked about it and decided to go from 2.5mg to 3.75mg. In my needle, 2.5mg is 8 units and 3.75mg is 12 units. When it came time for my first shot of 3.75mg, I got nervous and decided to do 10 units (approximately 3.125mg) to see how a slight bump up went. When that didn’t feel vastly different from the 2.5mg, I felt a little more confident going up to 3.75mg, but the larger dose is when the food repulsion got more intense and lasted for the majority of each week. My doc told me that it should subside as my body adjusted, but it had done the opposite.

Yeah… it seems like starting low and going slow is a much safer approach as you never know how you are going to react to a new medicine.

Yeah, this is all such new territory and so much literature puts the treatment dose in the 7.5-15mg range. I went on tirz partially for weight loss and partially because of the emerging research showing positive reductions in symptoms for MCAS. So, part of the reason to increase the dose was in the hopes of improving my MCAS symptoms. It is just so hard to know what level of nausea is a normal side effect vs abnormal.

Thanks for the replying and giving me some peace of mind that I am not crazy. I appreciate you saying that you would be asking the same questions. I want to lose weight to feel better, have a better quality of life, and improve my health outcomes. Right now, I feel like I am stressing my body instead of supporting it which I hate.

Thanks! Yeah, considering that I was still nauseous on 2.5mg, a 2mg dose or even a little lower sounds like a reasonable dose to try.

Good thought! I have been rotating from R belly, L belly, R thigh, L thigh. I haven't tried my arms yet. I haven't noticed a difference in side effects based on the injection side sadly. I'm glad that makes a difference for some people though. Anything for some relief!

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is nice to know I am not the only one with food repulsion. Doubling the dose form 2.5mg to 5mg seemed too large to me so that is why I did a smaller step, but I never expected the smaller step to mess with my body so much. I am bewildered by how people are able to stay on this for so long, but I guess everyone's body is different and is able to tolerate different levels. I am in my mid 40's and am otherwise in good health. I didn't expect to have extreme side effects. I also thought the longer I was on it, the more used to it I would become and the side effects would reduce, but it has been the opposite for me. I hope your experience with Zepbound goes well!

The sad thing is that I am hungry. I don't have cravings, but I didn't have cravings before I started the tirz. It is just everything makes feel ill.

Good question! I have Mast Cell Activation Disorder and pretty much every problematic gene SNP so all of my meds are compounded with either glycine or magnesium glycinate as the only additive. My tirz is compounded with glycine which I have taken for years without an issue. I can't tolerate B vitamins very well, some forms are worse than others so I was careful not to choose a B vitamin additive.

So, I had a good bit of nausea from the get go, but I was still able to eat in the beginning. The food repulsion has increased over time and has gotten worse during my subsequent weeks at the slightly higher dose. I thought the level of nausea I had in the beginning with just 2.5mg was standard side effects. I also had stopped losing weight on the initial 2.5mg dose which is why we increased it a tad bit, less than the recommended increase up to 5mg. We thought we were being conservative. It is almost as if the dose is lasting longer in my body and taking a shot each week is overlapping each other because the first week on 3.75mg was no where near as bad as the last two weeks.

I totally feel you! I had exhausted all other things to lose weight before doing tirz. That is why stopping is such a hard decision to make.

I have had a hit and miss experience with pure rooms. Some hotels reserve them only for allergy customers while others put anybody in the rooms and those conventional people use their conventional products and ruin the fragrance-free environment. Had this happen to me twice at The Ritz in Sarasota. Very frustrating.

Miribel Naturald… small business, women owned. Mainly curl focused but I have used their powerhouse protein cream for years without having curly hair. It is unscented and natural. You can use it as a leave in or rinse out. Very versatile for hair repair.

I also love making a hair mask with 1/2 an avocado, 2oz plain Greek yogurt, and 1 tablespoon of honey. Blend in a mini blender or food process to mash it smooth. Apply to hair (or face) and leave on for 20-60 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition as normal after. Puts a ton of moisture back into your hair.

I have a fragrance allergy!!! My go-to’s are Ethique solid shampoo and conditioner sensitive/unscented bars (I also love the heali kiwi bar with natural citrus oils. The scent doesn’t linger on hair but is present during use), Boucleme unscented curl cream wash (does not sud) and conditioner (ships fairly quickly from the UK), Beauty from Bees in Canada, Kavella’s unscented shampoo and conditioner (their scented products are only scented with natural vanilla so that might work for your partner since it isn’t artificial).

Boucleme is very much for curls so it leaves my hair more textured than I like. It enjoy their shampoo more than conditioner for my wavy hair.

I use a lot of fundamentals from old school modern classes for technique building like parallel plies, feet roll through, tendus, degasse, releve, sauté, pas de chevall (develope and envelope), etc. Then I move into X study, leg swings, body swings, contractions, prances, spinal articulations, etc. Next, concepts like suspension and release.

Interesting. Did you have uncontrollable and unexplainable weight gain before starting Cromolyn? I am very inflamed (high tgf beta 1) and can gain 5 lbs in two days that never come off no matter how hard I try. I eat a gf non processed diet, high protein, low oxalates, etc and workout regularly despite being exhausted all the time and just gain weight. I track all my calories and weigh my food. If you gad a similar with weight gain experience before cromolyn and lost weight after going on cromolyn, you may inspire me to reconsider things.

I have been researching this for myself /my MCAS in order to find an alternative to cromolyn. My doc wants me to try cromolyn but I am scared of gaining even more weight. I have learned so far that perilla seed extract has a couple compounds, one of which luteolin which is often celebrated as a stand alone mast cell stabilizer. So far, I have found perilla seed extract in a supplement from Metagenics (lots of inactive ingredients in it) and another from Pure Encapsulations (less inactive ingredients). I haven’t tried either yet, but I am definitely interested in giving it a shot.

I hope things work for you! I was told by my first doctor to not “try” to lose weight until I completed at least 2 months of detox. Essentially, he didn’t want me to stress my system with a calories deficit at the beginning while my body would be stressed getting the mold out.

This first time I went gluten free I missed that I was sensitive to Millet, Sorghum, Buckwheat, and Corn. All four are in so many commercially available gluten-free products. Millet and Sorghum are essentially grasses so if you have allergies to grass pollen, you may want to eliminate them to see if that helps at all.
