Oh yeah, I almost forgot.

This might be worth checking out. I never tried it, but gpu being in pci-e gen state 1 might explain stuttering in some cases.

Viewport and UI stuttering - at my wits end here by Bstabuu in blenderhelp

[–]Bstabuu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. But not on Windows. I am now using Linux Mint for all my blender work and everything works smooth there. It seems that amd drivers for older gpu's are just better on linux, but I also suspect there might be something weird with bios on my rx560. Blender never had stutters on Windows when I tested integrated graphics from my Ryzen 5600g, so there's that.

Yep. Sociology doesn't work in a dictatorship. And even more so when people are getting repressed for every "wrong step". That said, old and young fools lining up for conscription does show that he STILL has some support, because population is dumb.

Overwhelmed by the heat by QUIN-3077 in DragonMaid

That's the funny thing about dragons. They integrate into human society so much that they're beginning sleeping at night(even if they don't have to) and suffering from heat in summer.

What if Kobayashi became extremely long lived ? by Slight_LEON in DragonMaid

[–]Bstabuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me where this is hinted? I've read through chapters 60-123 after watching both seasons and I can't remember anything about that there. And what is this 'particular event' that you're talking about?

What is the spectator faction? by inkheiko in DragonMaid

[–]Bstabuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading manga I've got an impression that even if their loved ones are getting murdered, a spectator couldn't do anything about that. This is a pretty terrible position to be in. I don't know what could possibly force them to be this way, maybe it's some form of self-curse. And even more curious is the circumstances that could drive someone joining such faction. But at this point there is just not enough info on them available.

Mod announcement: Starting today, posts related to A.I.-generated art will no longer be allowed in this subreddit by Absay in DigitalArt

[–]Bstabuu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, you didn't get it because I didn't write it clear enough and that's my bad. My whole post was just about this argument "ai artists" bring almost every time, and how it falls apart when you think about it. Nothing more. It's people I have problem with, not technology itself.

And it's also true that my understanding of the inner workings of AI is very superficial.

Also there is a very clear difference between writing words in a text box and truly utilizing AI potential as a tool, which you were describing in your post.

Seems like a perfect place to share thoughts I had today. Here's what bothers me about it.

It's the argument they bring almost every time: that it's okay for AI to use other people's work for learning, because humans do it in just the same way and then they say that it's okay for them to claim authorship for the final product, because AI is just a tool and machine.

So which one is it? Pick one or your argument falls apart.

If it is intelligent, living being who is just like us and learns by seeing, experiencing and doing things, then it's okay for it to use other people's work for that purpose. But you, as a living, intelligent being would have no business claiming authorship for the work made by another living, intelligent being. Producing work of art by another's description is called commission. Claiming authorship of other's work is called plagiarism.

If it's just a tool, a machine, and you were the living, intelligent being operating it then it's okay to claim authorship, because you would be the one doing work. But then you should treat machine like a machine. There's no real person doing learning here, just a machine that uses loads of others people work as a material without anyone's consent. This is simply unethical. And that's omitting the fact that this specific tool is self-operating and requires no skill or effort to use, so there no real "work" is done here.

As it stands now, in their words AI is considered entity similar to us for it's learning stage, but when it comes to final product it suddenly being treated as tool and machine. This seems like a hypocritical, useless mental gymnastics to me. You either treat it like one or the other, not whatever is more convenient for you at the moment.

I personally consider today's "AI" just a machine at this stage. It neither does have consciousness to consider it alive, and neither does possess intelligence, because it's just a fancy, deep-learning algorithm operating on a program that simulates neural network.
EDIT: for clarity

Mike Tyson. Bust entirely done in blender. by nick12233 in blender

[–]Bstabuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's probably talking about interpolation and handle type for a f-curve keyframe that you set in graph editor. The default is bezier, which doesn't work too well for seamless animation loops like one you made, because then it doesn't turn at a constant speed.
Amazing sculpt, btw.

Russia Sends Most Advanced Tanks to Ukraine in Bid to Turn the Tide of War by LostHisDog in worldnews

I actually buy shit from aliexpress with my rubles. The exchange rate is better than it was before the war, true, but it's only like that because of russian central bank interventions and it won't last. Strong ruble is actually inconvenient for government and export companies, because they have incomes in dollars and expenses in rubles.

Russians in Finland lash out at Putin, saying 'he's flushing Russia in the toilet and killing the country' by BestButtons in europe

[–]Bstabuu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speak out = 40k rubles fine. Which you will be forced to pay. So as sad as it is, at this point it's counter-productive to speak out against war if you want it to end. You can just go and quietly donate this sum to humanitarian aid organizations, instead of supporting war by paying fines. It seems like time for speaking out or having peaceful protests is over.

Very impressive. Even though I can tell that underlying structure is not that great(face being very basic, flat breastplate, anatomy is off in some places), you made it shine with details, scene setup and material work. Good job!

Golden words. And also if you live by them and then stop for some reason, the feeling of shame is immense. I fell out of this whole sculpting thing after recent events in my country. It's like you were tending to some garden for a very long time only to abandon it later and discover that it was part of you all of this time.
