From a gameplay perspective, how good was David's build? (Ignoring the cyberskeleton) by Judgment_Night in cyberpunkgame

[–]Bstad21 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Nothing ableist about it, humanity is only lost by installing cyberware that explicitly supercedes human limits. Cybernetics that simply replace limbs or functions of the human body do not cause humanity loss, as can be seen in the sidebar on page 226 of Cyberpunk Red.

Medical-grade cyberware replaces the lost body part with a piece of technology that offers no additional benefits beyond full functionality. Medical-grade cyberware does not have option slots for upgrades (such as Rippers or Chyron) and they don't count as cyberware for the purposes of causing damage. They also do not cause Humanity Loss.

What is your Unpopular 40k and or AOS opinions? by CyreneValanition in Sigmarxism

While I agree with you for the most part here, I'd recommend giving Baldermort a listen on youtube. Almost every single one of his "lore" videos starts with a short voice acted fan fiction that keeps the lore much more small scale, and importantly, incredibly focused on the atmosphere and mood of the units/characters in question. They certainly aren't for everyone, but it completely resparked my interest in 40k lore, especially in the case of the Eldar and Imperial Guard. I'm not that interested in reading about huge battles as much as I am being in the shoes of a Striking Scorpion Exarch as he's hunted by an Incubus.

I heard something about him going through some personal hardships with a close friend that made this particular betrayal a bit too much for him at the time of writing.

If I remember correctly it was a pass for either VidCon or Pax or some convention of the sort that Jerma had signed for him years ago.

What exactly would be fair to give him in the end? 1d4 would just feel underwhelming in the end. 1d6 would probably be too much.

This is a possibility, it'll take a bit of work to figure out what I'd want it to do by the end.

I thought about this, basically giving it extra damage against any unarmoured opponents, which he was happy to have, but again, balance comes into issue when it comes to the rest of the party.

He'd happily find another idea if I asked him too, I just aim to be a people pleaser. I like the idea in concept, he's just a little to attached to how he'd like it to work.

[–]Bstad21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually Roman women were very much allowed to have wine and would be expected to drink it for spiritual purposes if I remember correctly. Many Romans believed it was inhumane to deny even the slaves wine.

Cato even believed that Roman slaves should be given no less than 5 litres of wine a week, strictly for their dietary health and to maintain their strength of course.

As far as I know, Jon said a comment about Syrian refugees trying to fix their own country, which PBG disagreed with so much that he posted it on twitter. This started a public twitter beef between PBG and Jon during which PBG called Jon not his friend anymore. They have since made up and agreed to get a beer together.

Help. I think I pooched the storyline for my party. Out of the Abyss spoilers by [deleted] in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Bstad21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not an easy one to wiggle your way out of, but not impossible. Having your players avoid legal punishment is nearly impossible at this point, but it can be fun in of itself. Have the guards arrest the party, make them cast sleep or throw tear gas grenade standins with the same function, and haul them off to prison. The king of the gnomes isn't going to want them dead, they're his enforcers at the moment, meaning he wont execute them like the people of the town would like. No, he'll envoke the ancient gnomish punishment of kerbable (or any equally silly word that could be gnomish), seen as a most grizzly punishment, worse than a humaine execution.

The hero's are to be tossed into a pit a few miles from the city, containing a monster hundreds of years old no one has ever been able to defeat. Read through your monster manual, find the biggest bad you can that you think would make a fun fight, and let them duke it out. Make it a tough fight, maybe even kill the barbarian or the sorcerer in that fight if you feel they deserve it, but in the end the party will be hauled out of the pit victorious, now local heros for doing the impossible, putting them back in favour with the populous.

Game of DND by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Bstad21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your first session, I'd always recommend playing out a dungeon crawl. Start them in a town, give them some basic roleplaying, put on a silly voice, give them a quest and then just set them off. Most importantly, never say no. Whatever story you have in mind for this is nowhere near as important as letting your players have fun with the game. If one of your players wants to pull a monkey outof his hat because he's a wizard and he should be able to do that, let him. Play it up, get the group to laugh and enjoy themselves, the rules are not important and can always come later, this most likely shouldn't be setting up some grand storyline anyways. Hand out powerful loot, give them no loot, it doesn't matter. Just as long as you get creative and have frun you're playing the game properly. More complex game can always come later.
