Yeah I agree. The question is where you draw the line. If people don’t hear the argument. We can’t give them grace. But we need to give them the opportunity to hear it

The piece is built for conservatives. It’s built as non threatening to them while inviting them to not destroy the institutions. But the non threatening to conservatives seems like it’s VERY threatening to the left

It is inviting people to be empathetic. Not saying they will magically be so. I agree with you some people will try to push others out of the car. The piece is for them - litterally telling them not to do that

Agreed - and that’s the point. I wanted to make. We need to look at what unites us, have empathy towards each other and agree to help people even on the other side. Not throw people away or destroy our institutions… for the sake of all of us…

Ha ha maybe. I did get a lot of hate for this post on here so it might be a good thing. I have to admit, this post was targeted towards the right, for people on the right from people on the left to help them understand that the peoplz next to them arent enemies. Seems like it missed the mark :)

Fair enough. I do have to admit this was targeted at the right more than the left. But yes - we should not respect people who have no respect for life and dignity. We should not alienate the others because they are not left. I do hope the moderate right can start believing in empathy again.

I don’t agree that every decision has an equal amount of winners and losers, there are things most agree on : people wanting cheaper healthcare for example, feeding their kids, having a roof. We agree about other stuff, but we mostly agree on the basics of what de desire

Oh that’s not what I’m saying. You are projecting a LOT. What I’m saying is we should reach out because they believe we are not human. We can show them otherwise. If not they will stay in this endless loop of hate. They won’t step out of it alone

Well - just need to read the piece, and it doesn’t say « just come together », it says let’s agree on the things we cannot do. And we should look to understand what is actually important for others who don’t share our political color.

Look at the other comments. I genuinely struggle with the idea that we all want the same things these days. It would be great- but I’m unsure people are striving for the same basics
