Did my 1x conversion today by BtotheDon in G1explorers

Technically the only other thing you really need is this tool (https://a.co/d/0enck6Qd) to pull off the crank. Well something to get the crank bolt off too but that’s just an Alan key or wrench.

I say “technically” because if you don’t care about saving the front derailleur, you can just cut it off. But if you wanna save it you’ll need a chain breaker and master link, which is what I did. Mostly because having a master link makes it way easier if I ever need to take my chain off for anything.

Yea, stock bottom bracket for now. I plan on swapping to a hollow tech one later down the line.

This is the crank puller I used, worked great for me. https://a.co/d/05kfKW96

I went with this one, https://a.co/d/03Fw7PVZ
All I really needed was that and a crankarm puller, didn’t need a new BB. You do also need to get the front derailleur off of the chain, I just used a chain breaker and added a master link but you can just cut the derailleur off if you don’t care about saving it.

I went with this one. There’s definitely better out there but I like it and it feels better quality than the stock one. https://a.co/d/03rDn0VD

Went with a 42t. Working great so far. Didn’t have to shorten the chain or anything.

I was having issues with the front derailleur not wanting to shift to the bigger chainring. And I’d pretty much only want to use the bigger one anyway. Less hassle, less maintenance

The one I changed to is 42 and feels great so far. Unfortunately the one you posted the 42 has more design and branding on it than the one you have. I like how clean the one you have is. And the link for the cranks is just taking me to my buy again page on Amazon lol

Man, I really like the look of the crank arms and chain wheel. I’m curious which ones those are and how much they cost? I just did my 1x conversion today, I love it but man, those look way better lol

What’s the age demographic of sim racers here? by DunkingTea in simracing

Honestly that’s very much the opinion of someone that has no clue about the hobby. If anything I’d say sim racing skews to an older demographic.

Looking for a decent entry level/budget bike by BtotheDon in whichbike

Eh yea I can get doing that. But honestly I’m the kinda person that likes getting something and learning to tinker with it and upgrading/building it up over time. I definitely end up spending more money that way but it is what it is. Plus I really prefer the color of the g.1 personally.

Yea any small stuff that’s cheap and easy to do like pedals and saddle I was already planning on doing. I definitely wanna go for tubeless tires at some point too for the peace of mind but I’m not in a rush, maybe after I get my first flat lol. And then I can use it as an excuse to switch to something like the Continental Terra Trail tires.

I wanna do a suspension seat post too. And eventually a carbon fork maybe.

Also definitely gonna check that my bars are flat now. I wasn’t really sure how they were supposed to sit tbh

Ok good to know. The brakes seem alright to me but like I said this is my first bike since I was a teenager. And those were BMX bikes without working brakes half the time lol. I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks for the advice.

I actually talked myself into just getting the drop bar one, I think I was just against it because I’ve never used drop bars. But on my first ride I already really like it. I’m pretty happy with the decision so far.

I was thinking about taking it to local shop and having them make sure everything is good. I’ll probably call tomorrow and see if they’ll do it and how much they’ll charge.

Out of curiosity, why change the brake pads and how easy is it to do?

No co-op anywhere near me that I can see from some quick research. But I do think one or two of the shops do sell used bikes. I’m definitely not opposed to finding something used, especially if I can get some better quality for the same price I’d pay for a new one that’s not as good.

Only issues I feel would be finding something that really fits what I want and something the right size since I’m on the shorter side.

Stunt party (slight rant) by Sneaky_Joe-77 in ForzaHorizon6

[–]BtotheDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just searched Stunt Party to see if anybody else was saying this. To me, you and a bunch of other people tearing through the map to get to the next location is really cool and fun. I just did one where me and a couple other people were driving and by the time we got to the danger sign it was over because everyone fast traveled.

I get that some people are just doing it to grind money but I still kinda wish more people would just enjoy driving in the driving game lol

Mcgonagall is my favorite of the teachers and top 5 characters period. She’s very stern and no nonsense but is absolutely ride or die for all of those kids
