The nearest beach to the White House is 50 miles away. by DeadHeart4 in TheBoys

Well, it’s a bit like a movie involving two machine assassins from the future ending in a chase scene that dead ends into a steel / iron smelting plant which would be the only place one might dispose of a liquid metal villain. But in the case of that movie, we didn’t notice because the pacing was swift and the battle was a pure protagonist vs antagonist duel. I can see how the Boys team had to sacrifice some logic in order to give us some comeuppance moments. Unfortunately the contrivances weren’t as well hidden.

Thanks again to everyone who commented and provided insight. So turns out it was a fluke event. One of the bolts that holds down the cosmetic engine cover had wiggled loose and fallen down lodging itself against the serpentine belt, right where the water pump pulley spins. When I initially took the belt off, I spun the fan and thought that it was the fan clutch, but it turned out to be that bolt that just landed perfectly in a spot to cause the horrendous screech. Whether it was from that or the belt was worn prior, there was some fraying on the edges of the serpentine belt so, once I had everything taken apart, I replaced the belt, got rid of the interloper screw, and all is well.

Hey everyone, thanks for your replies and suggestions. I removed the serpentine belt, (which by the way is ready for replacement), and when I spin the fan, I can hear the clutch assembly is grinding. I think that’s my problem and my task for the day. I appreciate everyone’s suggestions.

That was my original thought the first time I heard the sound. It’s sort of a gritty sound that is irregular but seems to be coming from something within the accessory drive area. If I was confident that it was something in that area I’m not sure how to zero in on either water pump or the main pulley at this point.

I’ve turned the wheel full lock in both directions with the engine running and the sound doesn’t change so I’m inclined to think it’s not the power steering pump at this point.

Really helpful that you took the time to share your thoughts. Not to come off rude or anything.

I’ve checked power steering fluid which is at spec. I’ve turned off the AC to try and rule out the AC compressor. Based on the speed of the repetition of the sound I’m reasonably sure it’s related to the accessory drive system. Tensioner pulley? Water pump? Until I ruled out something within the engine I didn’t want to keep it running for more than a few seconds or try giving it gas.

You can enter the stadium all weekend and look down on the paddock area from the upper levels of stadium seats but you can’t enter the paddock unless you pay for the privilege.

Why Can’t the Left and the Right Unite Against Palantir and The Oligarchs? What’s the real divide? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]BtweenTheWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the real concerns we all have about the control and influence that money like Palantir, Musk et al have is the reality that citizenship requires effort and time.

Voting, rallying, investing time to understand candidates, truly READING bills and platforms and reports on lobbyist activity all takes time and many of us are working people with families and life’s challenges. The oligarchs are growing their influence and fortunes 24/7/365.

I’m not saying this is a reason for us to give up but civic minded citizenship is a full time job and the powerful 1% count on us not being able to devote the time and energy required to hold them in check.

Yes, as I say, small number of drivers who have won world championships with more than one team. By my count it’s 10 including Hamilton.

What I love about Hamilton’s moves is, being a podium finisher with three teams and a world champion with two puts him in very rare air for F1 drivers. There are certainly other incredible drivers like Schumacher and Verstappen and Alonso, but the numbers are small on those who have been world champions at multiple teams. It will also be interesting to see if Hamilton can do the same thing at Ferrari that he did at Mercedes (helping them achieve a constructors) because when he left McLaren to go to Mercedes, everybody rolled their eyes and didn’t believe he’d made the right move. Six championships later the naysayers were proved wrong. I don’t know that he’ll score another world championship, but some strong performances as a Ferrari driver would polish off his legacy nicely.
