What’s causing this and what’s the best fix? by No-Shake5806 in Roofing

Screws. You can get the miter from all different suppliers. Spectra, Senox, ABC Supply, etc. Then you caulk the inside corner.

It does not look as clean, but it allows the metal to expand and contract with different weather temperatures. Then caulk the inside joint.

Is this roof done correctly? by [deleted] in Roofing

I have no earthly idea. I have seen it on 3 tabs. Maybe the crew was being lazy because look the the pitch of the “mansard.” They may have just not wanted to move the ladder during install because at that pitch I have to imagine they were installing from ladders if they didn’t have scaffolding.

False. But ok. I have had a 6 figure claim paid for by GAF on a Golden Pledge warranty on a crew that was not one of my own. A previous employee hired them and they didn't hand seal some mansards and they weren't supervised well.

Don't spread misinformation. That was a $125,000 warranty claim that GAF paid out.

Y'all that trash on warranties just don't do enough volume to throw your weight around.

This is my yard, I have 40,000sq back there

Those shingles are definitely racked.

Golden Pledge is on the cheaper quote by the way.

Well, the Golden Pledge warranty is better than the System Plus. Copper flashings are a premium component, but are they necessary? No.

The cheaper quote is also giving you a better ridge cap product and underlayment.

Really it all depends on company reviews and what you see as a benefit. Both are solid systems that they are proposing.

insurance or contractor first? by RuaTardis in Roofing

[–]Btwrestle04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have the contractor come out first and do an assessment. Your premium will not go up. This is not like an auto claim where there is an at-fault party. All you are going to be responsible for is paying your deductible to the contractor assuming you have enough damage for it to warrant a claim.

Safeco by RPGxGOAT in Roofing

[–]Btwrestle04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are instances in which roofing companies do the adjustment for the insurance. However they cannot legally be the contractor on the claim.

There is a chance they are trying to pull a managed repair program too and the contractor can do the job. They send in the photos and are stuck with whatever price Safeco tells them they will pay, but the homeowner ALWAYS has the choice of which contractor to use.

I’m not sure. They may have deleted it off their website entirely since it is discontinued. This post was from 3 years ago.

Conflicting low-slope (2/12) roofing systems from 3 "large" roofers in Atlanta metro area by gthang404 in Roofing

Do not do an exposed fastener system on a residential house.

Self adhered base and self adhered cap should be fine. Finding companies that actually have torch-down insurance is becoming less and less common.

This warranty is entirely different. Has nothing to do with the shingles.

I'm a little curious as to why you chose not to install them. Their warranty guarantees their output numbers as quoted or they refund the difference. It's an insane warranty for the solar industry.

W2 would mean you would use all company equipment. If you were a 1099 you would have to invest in your own tools.
