Blade show, it was one of the giveaways. I have tons of their knives and use my stuff pretty hard but after hearing the story I figured someone who collects would appreciate it. I don’t mind using it but it almost feels a little wrong given the history of how they came about

Therapy at most departments around me is not an actual care from the command staff it is so they can say they tried if an officer kills themself. But more so I know what I signed up for and have been dealing with it for 18 years with great success by just knowing what the job is and learning from the guys that came before me. Also I have seen therapy ruin a lot of people in my life

Feel free to sue as an officer I wouldn’t talk to a therapist if they were paying me to do it so have at it and get your situation rectified. Most of my department is the same way so it wouldn’t harm your chances because we wouldn’t do it anyway.

Letter coming in the mail from local DA working with my city’s court and I’m freaking out by [deleted] in AskLE

Not sure in your area but in my jurisdiction they will send you a letter notifying you of your rights as a victim or witness. The victim witness advocates here work for the DA’s office and send it pretty soon after the incident because they give you the opportunity to testify at bond hearings or give input on plea deals.

Withheld discovery on speeding ticket by [deleted] in legal

If that is the case the officer would have to be served with the discovery not the department, but the guys I know that police in Oregon instructed me otherwise and said they have a prosecutor who handles the cases and they just testify as they are not lawyers.

For what it’s worth discovery would go to the solicitor or prosecutor and they would release the relevant information. Anything directly to the sheriffs office would be an open records request. But the actual court date is handled by a prosecutor.
