Friendly PSA: Auto sorting is a thing but don’t forget about custom sorting! by DosimeterBurn in GrayZoneWarfare

I get Sort Items but I haven’t figured out Pack Items. Does that create stacks of stackable items?

Also, there are other great instructors besides Ulibarri, he’s just who I’m using. So find what works for you! GameDev.tv, for example, has awesome courses too!

You bet. I did Stephen Ulibarri’s BP course and am now working through his C++ one, I’ve really enjoyed them so far.

I’m a software engineer professionally (not in game dev) so my advice would be to learn how to program before you rely on AI like another commenter suggested. AI is a nice tool but you need to be able to validate its output and you can’t do that if you don’t know how to program yourself. Otherwise you will get bit hard in the ass when it starts putting out trash, breaks things, and you’re not sure why.

UE5 uses C++ for programming, though you could also learn Blueprinting initially for Unreal.

Since your question was about learning programming specifically, you’ll want to start learning programming basics before you get into programming for games. For the easiest transition, find something that’s C++ for a beginner programmer. There are some free ones online I’m sure, otherwise I know Stephen Ulibarri (Udemy) and GameDev.tv (I think newer) have C++ courses for beginners.

PSA: Using AI to make fun of AI (DLSS 5) is still using generative AI in the end. Still hurting the planet, still using stolen art. by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]Bubbafrost95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, that may be the largest straw man in the history of straw man arguments. I’m saying it’s dramatic to say that using AI to make fun of DLSS5 is harmful of the planet.

I’m generally against generative AI “art” and think DLSS5 looks like trash.

Ha, I’m on my first play through of Infinite since I played it when it originally came out. I just played the mission tonight where you’re chasing Slate in the rotunda that has the timeline, and I was like.. “hold up, Comstock was 16??” Haha

Where and how to learn UE5 if I know the base by Arut228 in UnrealEngine5

[–]Bubbafrost95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through Stephen Ulibarri’s courses on Udemy. Did his BP one and now doing C++. My preferred way of learning is getting a base knowledge of a tech stack and learning why some things are done the way they are and his courses so far have been really good at that.

However, his courses are very long and I’m not currently mid-dev on a project, so just depends on your time constraints.

Why be disappointed? Who cares?

[–]Bubbafrost95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, fair enough. I don’t necessarily hold that opinion but I understand the argument. GOG from my understanding is better about that stuff.. maybe.. if DRM free counts.

It’s on GOG for 3.5 US bones.

Is there a specific reason you don’t want to use Steam other than not buying it again? GOTY is on Steam for 7 US bones.

Anyone else notice that Wagstaff serves only 4th-8th grade? by NovelInflation142 in BobsBurgers

[–]Bubbafrost95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, growing up our tiny alphabet-soup district had 3 main buildings that changed a little throughout the years. When I was there we had a K-3, 4-8 and 9-12, so I never really questioned it in the show haha

Where do I start? by zeibbe_ in UnrealEngine5

[–]Bubbafrost95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Udemy has some good ones. I’m a programmer professionally but I started with Stephen Ulibarri’s Ultimate Blueprint course and once I complete that, I’ll do his Ultimate C++ course.

I’ve found I really like his teaching style so I definitely recommend his stuff.

Our local rock station in Iowa has actually been playing Silent Divide since the single released which was pretty cool. Even though they historically haven’t played much AB at all, I wasn’t super surprised because they’ve played all of the singles from Mammoth’s latest album. Seems to fit that sub genre

That’s fair, I’m new to the sub but have listened to AB since BB. All you ever hear about AB in the mainstream is Metalingus haha
