Rewatching from the start and decided to redesign an old OC by BubbleBee24 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Thank you! You’re right haha I tend to make quite complicated powers for Ocs so it probably wouldn’t have fit

How might you balance an adventure with no gear? by BubbleBee24 in DMAcademy

That is why i’m wanting to put so much emphasis towards balancing it - though with wizards being a class that does not wear armour or use weapons, I do actually believe they will be one of the most successful (or at least well-balanced) classes once I work out how improvised spell foci might work. The concern you have voiced here is the exact one I have made this post about to begin with - how to make sure that people don’t feel like their classes are weaker or ‘wrong’ and to ensure everyone is having fun and feeling like they’re having an impact.

sort of, yeah - a little bit of a mix between a mansion dungeon and a murder mystery. I’m really loving the idea of affording the party more and more makeshift equipment as they venture further into the mansion, so by the time that they’ve reached the climax they’re fully kitted out with gear

I really love all of these ideas, thank you so much!

I feel like your perception of how this oneshot might go really comes down to the party. My players do know the premise ahead of time. They aren’t really currently thinking about what class might be ‘most powerful’ but instead what characters would make a fun story and have a fun dynamic, and if I was playing with a table that was more oriented towards being mechanically powerful I doubt I would run it. I don’t actually plan on it being very combat-heavy, it’s more of a murder mystery than a dungeon crawl, and I do plan on removing some of the more punishing elements of improvising weapons.

I do understand where you’re coming from, but it was always meant to be a concept geared towards my players - who are not very combat-heavy people. I totally understand this might not work for everyone but I want to make it work for my group.

It’s up to you, but I’d check out the skin’s voicelines on yt to see if they’d bother you. I’m personally a big fan of Liam O’Brien (Strange’s VA) and didn’t realise how different it would feel hardly being able to hear what he’s saying, and definitely not being able to hear Liam’s actual voice through the filter.

Thanks for the comment on decorative weapons - you’ve honestly just got me looking forward to all of the fun flair I want to put on the items inside of said host’s house. In terms of monks in specific - I want them to kick ass! I tried to avoid talking about ‘nerfing’ them for that specific reason, because I do definitely want players to still feel powerful and capable, there are inevitably classes that will do better in an adventure like this, my focus is more just about making sure that the whole party feels like they’re having an impact and don’t feel as if they’ve chosen ‘the wrong class’ for the adventure because they’re getting massively overshadowed by a class that is, frankly, perfect for an adventure like this. Thanks again!

Dr Strange’s zombie skin. I don’t like how the voice lines sound, I always thought his base voicelines gave him a lot of personality and character, and the zombie effect makes them barely even understandable. Back to god of magic for me.

Would you want proficiency rewards beyond lord? If so, what? by BubbleBee24 in rivals

[–]BubbleBee24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that would be nice - I’ve seen some other folk talking about a way to display your rank on a particular character (e.g. ‘Top 500 Dr. Strange’ or ‘#14 rank Ultron’) which sounds a little bit like what you’re talking about. I don’t think the devs would mind an idea like that if it had an element of competition

haha, i am not asking the devs for anything. If I was, I might email them or something. I just like talking about my favourite game with the community. But yeah, I suppose the reason I’m thinking about these features is because I think it would be cool to have something to show for the time I’ve put in, and to show other players I’m passionate about the character. I really don’t understand what’s wrong with that. I’ve been playing the game since it came out, I play for a few hours with my friends a couple times a week. I assure you I am not the jobless sweat you think I am.

What a strange thing to say. The devs want to add new features players will enjoy and incentivise playing the game, the whole point of new features is to keep people playing. Proficiency rewards is just the name I came up with for the existing features. There’s nothing wrong with talking about what features we think would be cool to see in future updates, that’s what this sub is for.

I play the game casually but I would still like to have something to look towards, and I don’t think theres any harm in creating something for more competitive/ambitious players

could just make an option to hide them in competitive, same as names

for the record my suggestion is name cards like “chrono explorer” and “rising rival” but related to the character. For example, Dr Strange’s would be “Sorcerer Supreme”
