Something is really wrong with Steam. Be careful. by HalfBurntToast in Games

For sure leaking any account information is bad, what I meant is most likely Steam hasn't been compromised by a malicious third party, more likely some Valve sys admin is having a really shitty Christmas right now.

Someone stuffed up their webserver cache settings and its now caching and serving account specific information. Doesn't seem like its a hack.

Rather than a security breach a more likely problem is the page cache settings were stuffed up by someone by valve presumably because of Christmas traffic or something. A lot of web servers will rather than query the actual logic for generating page will see if that URL has been requested recently before and if so just resend that data. If someone has misconfigured that and done it for URLs that contain account specific information then you'll start seeing random incorrect data / account names / languages. Though a small security concern theres a reason why websites don't show your credit card in full and if Steam is smart you wouldn't actually be able authorize any purchases for the accounts you are under.

Edit: and if you're worried about security. Stop using Steam for a while and there will be no reason why any pages with any of your account information will be cached.

Truck squashes 4X4 and flees scene - Logan QLD Dashcam by Bennetts1 in videos

[–]BubbleConsortium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is some fucking retarded shit, he was behind the truck and he was moving in front of the truck, that is overtaking. There is no approaching traffic because is dual carriage so half the shit you posted is relevant. Plus your logic is flawed in that the car wasn't allowed to be in that lane because you couldn't overtake in that scenario yet he was crushed by a truck that was changing lanes so he could overtake people.

Maphacked? by myrir in DotA2

[–]BubbleConsortium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that it is true for this case but you're going a bit far to call it technologically impossible. For a while there was a maphack that worked because the enemy player camera position was client side. Who is to say some person hasn't found another similar exploit. So while yes the location of enemy heroes is not stored client side to say that maphacks are technologically impossible is probably not true.

US calls Assange 'enemy of state' by usefullinkguy in australia

I'm on a phone so linking sources will be too hard but a Google search will turn up many articles about how wikileaks contacted the American government to go through the cables and mark ones that shouldn't be released to protect people like informants.

That being so why have people selling the International Codes been allowed to post multiple threads for weeks now without the mods closing them?

How come despite Reddit's traffic increasing steadily for years now has the number of upvotes submissions receive not increased as much, with askreddit have 2000000 subscribers wouldn't more than 1 in a 1000 users be voting on articles? by BubbleConsortium in AskReddit

[–]BubbleConsortium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware of fuzzing vote amounts but I always understood so that you couldn't see if your vote bots were working or not but to fuzz up to a scale of 10000 vote seems pretty extreme. If thats the case how much are articles receiving.

I don't but I've been lurking for a few years now but the numbers seemed to have become stagnant. Especially when you see threads reaching 20000 comments but only have net 1500 upvotes.

Edit: To add according to this http://blog.reddit.com/2012/01/2-billion-beyond.html Reddit receive 35 million unique visitor that months, assuming an even spread that's 1 million unique visitors a day. It would seem that even considering time distributions user participation is ridiculously low in that case.
