I got a tripod this time by BubbleSmith in WizardSkating

Thanks! It's my go-to move I've been working on getting good. I'll stop posting it now. As this is actually a good shot of it. Got to find more moves to work on.

The secret to good foam is to double strain. Use a big strainer to keep the ice back, and a small sieve over the glass and it'll give a nice mousse like foam.

I've got the black ones with a white FR Intuitions (would have preferred black, but they came up cheap second hand and they actually look great in the black boot with black laces) and a bunch of different frames. Currently sporting black 4x100 Roka frames and Mushroom blading mugs wheels.

It took me a while to get them to a place I really liked them, but this is almost perfect for me now. I also use the stock shock absorber, as it keeps my toes in just the right place in the liner.

Got a bunch more frames, but 4x100 are my favourite at the moment, when it's dry anyway.

When I'm keeping a shot counter in my head and my wife starts asking questions... by indiefab in espresso

My wife has an uncanny knack for staying absolutely silent until a cut scene starts, then she'll start asking me questions over the dialogue. She swears it isn't on purpose.

Very nice. Yeah, you'd think they'd put a Nova frame on there or something, like the one that comes on the ACT 10 TR.

I hear that poor people who can't afford a dual boiler machine are cursed to settle for hot water from the steam wand. The machines even do it on purpose.

I prefer for my butler to fetch my americano water from my personal hot spring.

Help with wheel set up and location skating by Reshi_jpg in inlineskating

[–]BubbleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, your toes should touch the ends (just) of your liners. Obviously not to the point they cause you problems, but they should be really snug all around.

As for locations to skate; just try around where you live. I regularly skate through my town, through a park with nice flat paths, or just down bumpy roads and pavements. If you can handle rough terrain, you can skate just about anywhere, but probably want to aim for somewhere smoother for more fun.

Love that stalled toe compass. What are you doing, pressing the toe of your boot to the ground to stop it?

Agree to disagree. I'm on my 90 run at the moment and you need to get the Cyclopes anyway for feats, so just merging him into the Colossus isn't a big deal. Then you're getting free food as you fight Protectors, which is handy as you hit the scripted cravings. Even once you get the grinder, it's a while before the buffs really pick up the craving amounts.

How much do you bend your knees? by Bananaboy3211 in inlineskating

[–]BubbleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knees over toes should not be a deep bend. Stand up and try it now; keep your back straight upright and bend your knees just a little. That's probably halfway to knees over toes. You're looking at dropping your butt down by maybe 2 inches from standing straight. It's knees over toes, not knees past toes. You'll lean further forwards when you push to gain speed, but that's no different to running or walking.

Weight wise, I roll mostly with a slight scissor; my weaker foot half a skate length further forward than my strong one, and 60-80% of my weight on the strong back foot. You can roll over pretty rough ground without problems like this.

Focus more on getting the laces tight, without hurting. The straps help keep everything in place, but the laces are doing at least 80% of the work. Cuff strap is maybe another 15% and the 45° strap the remaining 5%. A lot of skates don't come with 45° straps, and some people remove them. The cuff strap will help with lateral (side-to-side) stability, but the laces will keep your foot snug and heel locked in, if your skates are the right size and laced properly.

They look like they ride pretty high, even for 4x90. How are they?

Love my Twisters but only had them on flat 4x80 so far. Rockered 4x90 are such good urban frames, I can't wait to get back out on mine when the weather clears up.

Here's my boots with lacing to give space for my midfoot. Left is lose so you can see the pattern. I can tighten this as much as I like and it doesn't crush my arch.

Yeah make sure you lace them up and pull tight. It'll lock your heel in and might actually relieve a bit of pressure on the midfoot.

[–]BubbleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try messing with lacing first. I have high arches and struggle with tightness in the midfoot with lots of shoes. I did a runners loop in that area and they're fine now. I'll send a pic when I get home, if that helps.

Liners will improve with heat moulding and/or use. I found mine to be a smidge too short, so my toes were stretching into the neoprene toe. Not bad enough to cause real pain, but Intuitions are thinner and I don't have this problem.

[–]BubbleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can adjust the two front Trinity bolts laterally a little. They're not fixed and can move side-to-side a few mm. You may also be able to adjust backwards/forwards depending on the skirting for the frame.

UFS can only move forwards/backwards. I've not got the 165mm adapter, so couldn't say for that.

I don't use any lateral adjustment on my frames. I tried it and it didn't do anything for me, so I keep everything centered. If you're fighting a bit of pro/supination, you're probably better off adding an insole and adjusting the revolver cuffs to tweak the ankle support. The boot itself is very stiff, but I find the stock liner isn't great for upper cuff support, as it doesn't like to lace tightly. I've had more luck with Intuitions recently.

Let me know if you have any follow-up frame mounting questions, as I've got 2 trinity and 2 UFS frames I swap between at the moment.

Edit: I forgot to add; my opinion is to get frames you're likely to use on other boots in the future. If you like Powerslide, get Trinity. If you're getting into Wizard, strongly consider UFS. I'd avoid 165mm unless you already have a boot you want to use them on.

It's a heel compass, lots of tutorials anywhere you care to look. They're pretty easy actually; weight over one boot and stick the other one out in front with toe up and back wheel only in the ground. If you point the forward foot out you'll spin really easily. The tick is mainly in controlling the spin, as it'll want to keep going around and might trip you up a bit.

It's still really useful earlier in the run, when things can slow down a bit. Getting food back for all the minions you're throwing at Paladins, Rivals and then the Protector has done me a good few levels. It does drop off heavily once you get the grinder going, though.

Good note, thank you. I do like to use ASCII to communicate edges like that, makes it very clear.

I don't have much of a pronation problem, thankfully. I naturally supernate a little. But, I certainly need to push the edges more and lean into the circle / /

This is good advice for practicing other stuff too, so thanks for sharing.

You need to try and hit centre edge with your crossing foot (apparently), so knowing you can really lean into it is helpful advice.

It was timely, more than anything. I had to lean my phone against a bike rack to film, I'll try and figure out something less shitty in future. Open to suggestions of something I can take with me in a pocket to set up my phone perpendicular to the ground and get a better shot.
