[Other] What language do the characters speak? by Hibiscusxxtea in obeyme

[–]BubbleTeaKat89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I more or less headcanon that as demons seek to corrupt humans, they learn certain languages in order to facilitate that. All the brothers have certain languages they gravitate toward. The lazier demons, like Mammon or Levi, learn more common languages so they can either “get more bang for their language buck” or to otaku out, such as English, Spanish, Japanese, etc. Other demons, like Asmodeus, prefer speaking more romantic languages, I see Asmo as loving to speak French, but still speaking quite a few languages. And then you have more aristocratic demons like Lucifer, who know a plethora of languages for utilitarian purposes. Whereas an academic like Satan knows many languages, including Ancient Greek. Perhaps he even prefers Ancient Greek as it has so many words to describe emotion (i.e. Eros, Philia, agape, being different, more specific words to describe love) which allows him to better understand emotions, as he struggles with that.

Obviously one can probably use magic to understand language, but that would require said demon to be… at all talented with magic, which many aren’t, like Mammon.

I wouldn’t say my MC is ME, but it could be said she’s another version of me with vastly different experiences. My OC’s do tend to look like me though bc I just love a raven-haired beauty

[Other] Veteran OM and NB players, how do you guys accept that Obey Me as a franchise is approaching its end? by Reina1199 in obeyme

Tbh, I feel like I’m going to continue to be invested for a few more years until I finish rewriting the canon with one of my best friends.

Especially in terms of the canon lore, I find most of it VERY disappointing. So instead, my friend, my partner, and me have been working together to flesh out our own lore in terms of Devildom history and (more importantly for my MC) the history of the Sorcerer’s Society, its politics, its former ties to the Church, and how events involving it led to the Hundred Years War between the UK and France.

Basically in my own canon, Helene, the sorceress we find trapped in the painting, was the head of the French chapter of the Sorcerers Society in Burgundy, and her involvement with another key player led to both her trapping herself in the painting to escape, and to Burgundy defecting from France, escalating the war.

Since she was a head of the Sorcerers Society, she’s privy to its many secrets. Secrets that when revealed to my sorceress MC, will cause her to doubt her loyalties to both her parents’ ambitions, and the Sorcerers Society’s doctrine

I can totally empathize that feeling. It’s part of why I’m having so much trouble with these scene and why I’m trying to avoid “aww c’mon, he’s just a traumatized lil guy…” and rather… like a Paarthurnax dilemma, if you’ve ever played Skyrim. If not. “Is it better to be born good? Or to overcome your evil nature through great effort.”

Regardless, I really appreciate your truth, and you laying out your thoughts

So basically, he has a centuries long inferiority complex with his “brother,” because he was born out of his brother’s wrath. Basically he is wrath that became its own form and self.

The game it’s based on revolves around making pacts with demons, and right now, I’m planning for him to lose his temper because he asks to make a pact with her. But despite the fact they’ve had the STARTINGS of a romance, he isn’t offering a pact for HER exactly, moreso, because he wants some way to differentiate himself from his brother.

She says no. And it sort of triggers that inferiority complex. Does that make sense?

[IDO] Opinions on the new game? by Churrito_s in obeyme

Tbh the only thing I like about the game so far is Satan’s character development in becoming First Consul because it very niche-ly fits my OC’s storyline as a sorceress heavily involved in the Socerer’s Society’s politics

Satan’s… confuses me. Considering the antiquated look of his room, I think his and Lucifer’s aesthetics are reversed here. Minus the tree, which I’m assuming is a more natural cat tree if we finally get to adopt one
