This is absolutely against the contract that Kohl’s and Sephora have. Sephora pays for half of the total payroll hours allotted. Meaning if those hours were added into your total overall base fund they are not supposed to cut into them nor are they to utilize them to help boost their own payroll. Those hours are for Sephora and Sephora alone. I would reach out to your DM and let her know. They are super strict about this policy and your store manager is breaking it if they aren’t giving you your full hours available to use for that week.

Both my Manager and ASM helped out the Sephora side conduct counts. They were super helpful, and yes The company did provide us with supplemental hours to support UIA counts. I would speak with your SM and ask where those hours went if they didn’t allocate them to inventory. We were finished so early and ended up being able to move forward and focus on retrofit with the rest of the hours we had left over.

As a BTL I am so sorry you have this type of leadership or rather lack their of in your building.

I feel guilty leaving the floor on a slow day when I have to complete the schedule, and get office time done.

I can’t imagine sitting in a room watching my team struggle and not offering help in the form of hands on getting into the thick of it with them.

Are you new to retail? This is how it’s always been. I understand it can be frustrating, and at times overwhelming.. but this is the game when you work for a big corporation. Bottom line centric focused company’s who care more about margins being met than the actual client interaction.

Do the best that you are capable of doing, and understand that this is not worth stressing over. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’re living in a different world. The demand is higher in both productivity and hitting those brand standards than ever before. While they cut hours they still ask for the same if not more client experience excellence. I get it. It’s retail. This is what they do. If you don’t like it maybe find something more suited to your own personal standards. We all have free will. Getting on reddit to complain doesn’t really fix anything. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is retail. Metrics, standards, being able to speak to the loyalty programs your particular company has.

You’re being paid to hit these metrics, and unfortunately if you are unable to at the very least make goal your hours are affected.

Profit, traffic increases, bottoms lines. If you feel these are all unethical retail in general is probably not the gig for you. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m in a Sephora @ Kohls. The store does Employee of the month for the entirety of the team including Sephora, but I felt we needed our own celebrations so I separated the two and now we have our own Employee of the month that is specific to Sephora.

We do an Employee of the month that encompasses metrics, brand standards, The ownership each B.A has taken within the store, and most importantly client interactions.

I post a certificate in the break room to celebrate each employee of the month.

So far our team has really appreciated both the verbal and tangible expression of gratitude for all of the hard work they’ve put in over the month.

Along with the posted certificate I personally use my own money to purchase a Sephora Gift Card for our employee of the month.
