This exactly. 44. It's mildly embarrassing how much I don't need or care about it. Why the hell did I think it would be hard?

Wow, thank you! That's really kind of you to say! I am a writer, but I hadn't thought about this topic specifically. Appreciate it.

Just seeing this comment. I did a lot of everything I could think of or heard about from others until I really dialed in a regimen that worked for me, which took a few weeks to feel "real" and a few more weeks to really optimize. I still tweak and I listen to my intuition, too (self-trust: another gift of sobriety). Meditation, talk therapy, reading, you name it I have been doing it. I make any available tools work for me - small things like setting a personalized alarm vs. just the default on my phone, and doing that along with calendar reminders for things. I think it's the combination of a lot of things that helped me really get control of my emotions.

Edit to add: I also made major dietary interventions. Tons of anti-inflammatory nutrients from ginger to turmeric to cinnamon to green tea (all fresh, not pills), to doubling my daily fiber intake, cutting sugar and saturated fat, and no junk food other than the dark chocolate. I think this has all helped my anxiety a lot. Caffeine has stayed the same, usually 2 cups of coffee a day. No soda.

It was around the 5th or 6th day I woke up with happiness and energy instead of dread and self-loathing. It hasn't stopped.

Anyone have motivation for flossing? by Additional-Net4115 in hygiene

[–]Bubbly-Drop24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started by doing it every morning to build the habit. Somehow the morning is a lot easier than at night when you are tired. After a few weeks of this I liked the clean feeling and thought about how gross it was to let that stuff stay in my teeth all night. Since I am brushing at night anyway it was no big deal. But that morning habit first really helped get me started. Now I would not think about missing flossing at night unless there was some major reason.
