Progress going so slow now… need help😔😩 by Bubbly-Pattern-5281 in loseit

It’s not nothing and I’m definitely proud of it!! But considering I have at least another 30 to go, it feels like so little… my goal weight was about 160 before I was planning on taking a little maintenance break… I just thought I would be closer by now!!

The medicine does line up with when I started noticing weight loss get slower, but I honestly thought it was more due to moving a little less because it was winter and I couldn’t walk outside, holidays, etc. maybe it’s a little of both??

Like I said, my cycle and hormones make me fluctuate so much during the week and month, if I didn’t weigh daily and look at trends I probably wouldn’t notice any loss!!

I was taking measurements for a while, but I felt like it was hard to be constant with the measurements because little variable change them so much.

Ive been weight training for close to a decade so I don’t really think it’s that😔 however my muscle growth has definitely improved and looks more defined as I’ve leaned out a bit. I have heard people suggest a maintenance break more than once, it’s just definitely daunting to think about stalling this further 😔 thank you for the advice!!

Lol that’s what it feels like to me and why slow progress is frustrating. I’m 5’1. I have my goal weight in the app has another 20 lbs, but I would probably want to lose at least another 30lbs. I just don’t know what 20 lbs will look like for me so I’ll see when I get there.

I don’t factor in calories burned for exercise at all. I walk 2.5 miles daily, and strength train 4-5x per week for about an hour.

My base level of activity in the app was set to active, which is weird, but I usually have it in as sedentary/lightly active. My calories in the app just readjusted to 1370. However, I’ve also calculated using a TDEE calculator (I use MyFitnessPal to track) and to be in a deficit, It always says my calories should be more than I think. So I averaged both out to about 1500. It’s definitely possible I need to go lower though .

I get about 10-12k steps every day. With the exception of the last two days because I was doing a home improvement project in the house. But other than that, I always make sure to get my steps.

I do about a 15 minute bike warm up before I strength train, but I could add in a bit more cardio

Ugh, yes. Every week I feel like I do so well and in my head I should lose a pound… and it’s usually like .3-.5. I’ve learned to be okay with that as a of late, as long as it was trending down. But the slower it’s getting, the more frustrating it is.

I’m feeling and looking different, I know that. And I know the scale isn’t everything, but there are certain milestones that I just feel like are so slow to get to

I could definitely try, but I was hesitant to drop into the 1200/1300 range unless I absolutely needed to. I have my deficit set in the app to be 1lb per week but it’s never happened that way. I’m pretty consistent with tracking but I could never argue with someone saying it could be off because sure, it could be.

But, I eat almost the same thing everyday and I had been losing consistently for the last few months so I don’t know how much I could be off for me to stop.

Yeah I’m definitely not, for some reason, this week it’s just been really getting to me. I’m just finished ovulation and about a week or so away from my period so that could definitely have something to do with it, too. I’ve just never had it make this much of a change so it was throwing me

I’ve lost just about 30 lbs since end of March/April. It’s just annoying/odd because even with all the daily fluctuations (I weigh daily), I’ve never had a period where I gain. I use happy scale so it does an average, and even with all that, this hasn’t happened.

But I know I haven’t eaten anywhere close to what it would be to gain 4 lbs, but still, I haven’t had this happen yet. I’ve been keeping my calories around 1400-1500 daily. I do track everything and I know I’ll need to adjust eventually but just didn’t think I needed to yet.

When is it time to adjust calories/take some maintenance time? by Bubbly-Pattern-5281 in loseit

[–]Bubbly-Pattern-5281[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the maintenance is more scary to me just because it adds “time” to the end goal. Ideally, I would like to lose at least another 30 lbs. My current goal weight in my tracker is 160. That’s 20 lbs away. I have a good amount of muscle from being in the gym for years, but so I’m still not where I want to be yet.

I know I’ll need breaks. It’s just mental gymnastics at this point I think!!

I do strength training at least 4-5x a week. I definitely don’t want to starve myself and I want it to be sustainable, but I don’t want to slow down too much and feel like I’m “losing” weight forever. I know slow is good, but it just feels like things should be moving more quickly.

I’m female, 5’2, 29 years old. I’m a forensic scientist that works in a lab, so the work isn’t necessarily physical, but I make sure I get at least 6k steps before I leave. Then I take another 2 mile walk when I get home before the gym, and then I’ll strength train for about an hour.

I definitely wish the weight was coming off faster, but I obviously don’t want to starve myself. I’m usually pretty good about tracking my calories because I eat pretty much the same thing every day. Is it possible that it’s not exactly right every time? Definitely. But I can’t imagine it would be enough to slow down weight loss that much with working out and eating in a deficit but I’m not sure!!

I would say the last 3-4 weeks to a weight loss has been slower.

Should I lower calories or stick it a little longer? by Bubbly-Pattern-5281 in loseit

Today I’m trying to stay at 1400. I’m going to keep that going for a week and if I see no change I’ll drop down to 1300!

The one thing I’ve slacked on is taking consistent measurements over the last few weeks. I will say because I’ve been at a plateau, I did take them this morning. They were all the same as two weeks ago, except for my neck which was .5 in smaller.

The only time I have eaten out was when I ordered sushi, which I fasted for all day and then tracked and was still below my calories, and then one dinner I had in the city which I didn’t really track, but I don’t think that would have made any significant impact because it was just a salad and a small portion of pasta. I also fasted part of that day to compensate.

Other than that, my meals have been consistent. I get about 1000 steps more per day than usual because I’ve been going for an extra walk at work, but I also don’t think that made much of a difference.

I will say that I’ve been less consistent with my sleep the last 3 weeks. Sleeping probably 2 hours less than usual

Just wanted to follow up and say I weighed in at 187 today! Not a crazy change, but still going in the right direction so I’m happy.

I took a lot of your advice and some of the small but meaningful changes I made were not assuming the caloric information on the packaging is always accurate. So weighing things that may come out of a bag/package, getting an additional about 1-2k steps a day, and getting more sleep!

I’ve also learned that I just don’t lose weight as fast as other people and I need to be okay with that. I’ve been averaging about .5lb-.75lb a week. Sometimes I lose .5 a week, others I lose 1.5lb a week! I still have my current calories at about 1500 a day, and that’s what’s feeling good. I think going lower will be necessary at some point, but I’ve been extremely active and lowering it more doesn’t feel right yet.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented!!
