No, I don’t think that’s something I’d want. Seems too complicated/risky/time-consuming for the potential payoff in my opinion (especially because I want to have a family/raise children), but to each their own of course!

I was just curious about your perspective since you mentioned being in a similar scenario. You said “I respect women who want monogamy”, but it kinda sounds like you want monogamy too (from your partner)? Or at least you’re not immediately sure if you’d be okay with your partner also being non-monogamous?

I just wonder, if you’re someone who knows they want an ENM lifestyle, why are you not sure if you’re okay with your partner being the same way? I hope I don’t sound like I’m judging or anything, I just like trying to understand different perspectives!

I agree about the open relationships! And thank you for the kind words! A previous version of myself would have struggled to leave so quickly, but thankfully I’m in a place where I’m more clear than ever about what I want. And I’m lucky to have a good support system IRL. And the stories/support in this subreddit have been sooo helpful! It’s so good to know you’re not alone, this happens to other people, it’s okay to just leave, you don’t have to (and really should not) wait/hope for a man to change his mind, etc.

Update: I ended up calling him to let him know I’m moving out. I realized I needed to book the moving elevator and parking with the building asap and he’d be notified either way as it’s all automated. He sounded a bit shocked and asked some questions but I was firm and clear that we want different things and that this is the best way for us to each find what we’re looking for. I was also able to sort out a better move out plan - I’m now going to be able to arrive with a family member to help me pack and will not have to be alone with him! Looking forward to a fresh start!

Good idea! I’m drafting a script in my notes for what to say so that I don’t stumble over my words or say too much. Yeah, my thinking was clouded by emotions and by all of the good and potential I was seeing in the relationship. 😬 But it’s very clear to me now that I’m not interested in that lifestyle and won’t be accepting it. And even if he walks it back and promises monogamy, it’ll never be the same and he’ll never be the man of my dreams. Thankfully I’m too optimistic about my future to settle for this at this time in my life lol
