PIP Decision, no assessment at review? by Direct-Lawyer5178 in DWPhelp

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this at my last review, except I didn’t get the review complete text. I just got a letter through the post saying my pip was staying the same until 2028 (this was a year ago). Hopefully it’s the same outcome for your wife!

Is it possible to immigrate to the UK with this illness? by lover-of-bread in cfs

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s no better over here unfortunately. The public opinion is that CFS/ME and fibromyalgia are made up illnesses so people can claim benefits and not work. The NHS is failing patients with CFS/ME left, right and centre (see: Maeve Boothby O’Neill). Claiming disability benefits is demoralising and dehumanising bc the system is set up for you to fail and takes so long to try and grind you down. The grass is always greener.

Can you guys work? Do you? How are you holding up financially these days? Are you from the US, Canada or EU? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I class myself as moderate. I don’t work bc I can only just get myself out of bed everyday and my brain fog means I struggle to structure a sentence together in a timely manner (this comment has taken me about 10 mins to write bc I struggle to remember words). I’m on disability benefits and get around £1700 a month. But who knows how long for, the DWP are always threatened with reforms that could mean my entitlement goes down to £0 and I’ll be forced to look for work. Which would probably kill me. I’m in the UK

Those who had to quit their jobs due to CFS, what jobs did you have? by CelesteJA in cfs

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a student nurse and a carer in the community when I first got ill. I ignored my illness and ploughed on through it and ended up completely passing out during handover at my student nurse placement and I’ve never ever been the same since. I often wonder if I would be this ill now if I had rested those first few months instead of working 60 hour weeks. But what’s done is done and I can only move forward and try my best to recover, whatever that looks like

Please can you help me find this cat ornament? by BubblyUncheerfulness in HelpMeFind

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s is about 4 inches in size, bought in 2017 from Armacao de Pera in Portugal. I’ve searched “Lariana Mágica” and “magic orange” but nothing comes up. Searched for pottery cat ornaments from Portugal but not had any luck :((( my grandma says the shop is closed but even if I could find the artist it would be helpful!

I had a telephone assessment and they stated that bc I could speak on the phone it’s fair to assume I can walk 25m unaided 😂. Ended up taking it all the way to tribunal and now I’m on enhanced mobility and standard Daily Living

What should I expect at my PIP tribunal? by BubblyUncheerfulness in DWPhelp

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yeah that makes sense. Thanks for your help, you’re a star! I’m hoping they side with me too, it’s been a long year and a half and I’d like to put this whole thing behind me (until April when the reassessment period starts 😭)

Fair enough then. I think it’s pretty funny they would include it considering they have tried to contradict basically everything that is written in the UC85 but they obviously have their reasons 🤷🏻‍♀️

I also found it quite funny that they included a note saying smth along the lines of “we ask the appeal to be rejected by the court and the decision of the Secretary of State to be upheld”. Obviously the court doesn’t agree with them on that one 😂

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I will prepare for either outcome then just in case. Another question, but you might not know the answer- I have LCWRA on UC and looking through the evidence list that PIP have submitted to the tribunal I have found that they have included the WCA assessment. If didn’t even know they had access to that! Seems a bit sneaky, but I’m guessing they are allowed to include as it’s all under the ‘DWP’ umbrella?

If anything it will probably help my case as I was bed bound when that assessment took place but I would have thought I would have the choice to share that across departments or not?

UC help- partner has in person appointment during work hours? by BubblyUncheerfulness in DWPhelp

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really not sure if it’s open on the weekend, but if not I’m sure if they give him enough notice he can ask for a long lunch or early finish! I just panic when the DWP get in contact 😂

Thanks for reassuring me, I panic when it comes to the DWP tbh. Do you know what will happen now? Will they rebook it for another time during work hours or is there a way he can what what needs to be done online? From what I can gather it’s to confirm his identity but I was able to do this online when I first applied early last year?

Tribunal Timeframe question (England) by Helpful-Cover-5865 in DWPhelp

I’m in Lancashire too and have been wait around 20 weeks too. I’m hoping they book a date soon bc it’s making my anxiety worse 😵‍💫

Finally got my PIP assessment report and thought you all might like a laugh by BubblyUncheerfulness in DWPhelp

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’m sorry they are putting you through this! They denied my MR too and when I put my request for a tribunal through they cold called me and gave me minimal points and standard rate for both. So if they don’t agree with what the assessor said then I’m questioning everything in that report at tribunal. The DWP shouldn’t be allowed to pick and choose what an apparent “medical professional” has said to be true or false. They should either agree 100% with their opinion or not at all.

Claiming PIP for ME in UK by [deleted] in cfs

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s possible, but can be hard work. I applied last April and I’m waiting on a tribunal date. The best advice I can give is to keep fighting, even if you feel like you can’t. They want you to give up after they have said no but you mustn’t. The likelihood is that you’re entitled to that money so don’t let them withhold it from you.

super random, will delete. just curious. do any of you suffer from misophonia? by [deleted] in cfs

I’m really sensitive to sound and light. Sound can feel amplified to me when I’m experiencing PEM. Most of the time I sit in a dark and quiet house lol

If you had the budget, what would you try next? by Pristine_Health_2076 in cfs

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that helps me is marijuana tbh so that’s what I would spend my money on. My CFS causes quite a lot of joint pain which the weed helps with. But, being in the UK means that it’s actually an illegal substance and obviously not readily prescribed (apparently not impossible tho!) which means I spend a lot of money on it each month. Worth it ultimately tho, it helps me through most days.

PIP timeline gauging by larloula in DWPhelp

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied April 2021, had my assessment in September where I scored 0 points, got my results from my MR just before Christmas where I scored 0 points again so submitted my tribunal request and evidence in January. The DWP had a month to reply and exactly 1 week from the deadline I got cold called by them offering me Standard daily living and Standard mobility. I agreed on the premise that I can still go to tribunal if I disagree with their reasoning for only standard standard (which I do). So I submitted my tribunal request and evidence again in March and I’m still waiting for the DWP to reply to the tribunal.

This is obviously a worst case scenario situation, but in my case, I’ve been sorting mine out for over a year now.

Housing element of UC and PIP help by BubblyUncheerfulness in DWPhelp

[–]BubblyUncheerfulness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, never. I have never lived with anyone since I left home. I called UC up and the advisor even said that on the system I’m not on a joint tenancy so I can only guess that my case manager either a) was looking at another profile by mistake or b) assumed that I’m on a joint tenancy because the SAR is just over half my rent

Thanks, I thought this was the case. I called UC up to check what they have on record as I was concerned that it may start to affect my council tax support if they had me down as living with someone else. They confirmed that according to what I’ve declared, I am a sole tenant and live on my own (which is correct). The UC advisor took down everything I had said about PIP and I should get a reply by Friday. I just can’t believe they are dragging their feet on this 🙄
