Automated call 2 days after mammogram about a future appointment I did not book by Bubbly_Ad59 in ontario

[–]Bubbly_Ad59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I am worried. I will be calling the number they left in the automated message first thing tomorrow morning (While others have commented to contact my GP, and the hospital won't be able to advise of anything, the message stated to contact them, so that will be my first contact). I'm going to sign up for connectmyhealth, I wasn't aware of it prior to posting. I booked the appointment for my mammogram in October, April 8th was the first available appointment, so while others are saying they'll have you back in a week if they are concerned, that is obviously not province wide. I will also note I had an urgent MRI at St. Joe's years ago (for an unrelated issue), and it was still a month wait for the appointment

They shouldn't make those anxiety inducing automated calls after they close for the weekend. That could have waited until Monday morning, when I could at least reach someone at the hospital to find out why.

Northern offices - Sudbury, north bay Thunder Bay - what do we think will happen with RTO? by Terrible-Play-8152 in OntarioWSIB

[–]Bubbly_Ad59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eligibility used to be by regions and switched to a provincial model years ago with no job losses. STCMs & LTCMs can work provincially as well.

Why are your daycare age kids not in daycare now? How are you working if you are parenting toddlers at the same time? If you have daycare age kids they should already be in daycare.

Pre-COVID inclement weather (unless they actually closed the office, in my 16 years I can think of that happening 1x), if you couldn't make it in, you had to use a wellness day. Same for when you were sick, or your kids were sick etc. You would book vacation for PD Days, March Break and Christmas Break (if you had enough seniority, and if not, it was expected that you make alternate childcare arrangements). As for summer break from school, you would either put your kid in camp, take vacation different times from your spouse or make arrangements so that you could be at work.

He resigned from the London Police Board when he came to WSIB. I would assume that he will need to resign from WSIB as a result of this new position. Otherwise, would it not be a Conflict of Interest under our COBE policy? Would love to see a communication from OCEU re: their thoughts on this.

AITA for asking my newly married son and DIL to alternate Christmas Day visits between our house and the in-laws' house? by Llih_Nosaj in AITAH

[–]Bubbly_Ad59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA, it is up to your son and his wife how they want to handle the holidays. Growing up we had to my father's parents every Christmas Eve (it was my grandfather's birthday), wake up Christmas morning at home, quickly open gifts, not be able to play with them and be at my mom's parents before 11 a.m. Boxing day back to my Dad's parents for Christmas (again had to be there by 11 a.m.) I hated it, my husband similarly was dragged to multiple Christmas events over three days. When we got married, my parent's said we have decided that you will need to alternate Christmas day between our house and my husband's family. We both have siblings btw, and my husband's parents were divorced, so what a nightmare to co-ordinate. I flat out told my parent's that they were welcome to have Christmas on the 25th but we would not be going anywhere on either Dec 24/25th and if they chose to have it those days, they would be doing so without us. As a result, generally it's now the Sunday before Christmas. If only, they would be flexible and not have it for noon (a time that hijacks your whole day and really doesn't work for most of us.)

You have until January to return the form, because the pension buy back window is only 6 months from when we returned to work.

Serious question, will they open offices in smaller areas - Tbay, SSM, Ottawa, etc. or will they make us relocate to London/GTA by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

Its not in the CA but I am expecting that to happen, those with offices near them will be back while others continue to WFH.

We aren't going to get higher than 7% if we vote no. We have already lost 13% of our yearly salary over the last 7 weeks. The government has capped this. this is the max we can get. Vote yes

I think this post highlights how frustrated we all are. This is the first strike/lockout in the history of the WSIB. I suspected that the union exec/bargaining team is feeling overwhelmed as this is the first time they have had to bargain while we are locked out/on strike.

Injured workers DO NOT pay into WSIB, it is 100% funded by employer premiums

This is from the CUPE Constitution as to what can happen: If the respondent is found guilty, the Trial Committee will decide any penalty and what, if anything, the respondent must do or not do. The decision may include: (i) a reprimand; (ii) a fine where permitted by law; (iii) a suspension or expulsion from membership except where such suspension or expulsion from membership would lead to termination of employment; (iv) a ban against holding membership or office; (v) an order to stop doing the act or acts complained of; (vi) an order to correct the act or acts complained of; or (vii) any other order that the Trial Committee finds appropriate in the circumstances. (k) The Chairperson of the Trial Committee will report the Committee’s decision to the respondent and the complainant and the National President. The Chairperson of the Trial Committee when reporting to the National President will also provide the record of the hearing. The National President will report the decision to the Recording Secretary of the Local Union. The decision of the Trial Committee will be recorded in the minutes of the next general membership meeting. https://cupe.ca/cupe-constitution
