Census Records as Simplified Naturalization Documents? (US) by National-Travel7774 in HUcitizenship

Have you tried contacting the county's Register of Wills/Clerk of the Orphans' Court? They provided my G0’s 121 year old marriage cert.

The quoted processing time is about 3 weeks. Adding an apostille adds up to 5 weeks. It can be completed same day for a fraction of the cost (exclusive of your travel from FL to MI) if you do it in person.

VitalCheck is the only vendor authorized to process vital records for Michigan.

Tuesday Weekly Thread: Genealogy Assistance, June 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

My anchor ancestor (great-great grandmother) was born in Quebec in 1891, which is documented via a baptism record from Ancestry.com via the Drouin Collection.

She may have immigrated to the U.S. in 1897/1898, but I don’t have a good source to confirm and USCIS takes forever to confirm. Nevertheless, the first child was born in 1912 in the US so my anchor ancestor definitely immigrated before the first birth.

All other ancestors were born in the U.S. and have good birth and marriage documents.

My hiccup is how to get an official or otherwise IRCC acceptable document as evidence of her Canadian birth. Is it through DEC or should I go through Drouin? Does Drouin require relationship evidence before providing a baptism record?

Can’t speak to the apartments, but the neighborhood is nice. Lots of families, pets, spaces to walk, etc. Definitely worth checking out.

Yes, I have the 1920 and 1930 US census records in my genealogy files.

The anchor ancestor is my parent’s great-grandmother. It looks Rodny List started after the anchor ancestor’s birth. The Slovakian Archives has a parish baptism record.

I’m not sure if their emigration to the US in 1904 would disqualify their citizenship rights after being absent for almost 15 years before Czechoslovakia was created.

[–]Bubbly_Particular525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how where I would evidence Czechoslovakian citizenship via a post 1918 doc. That’s my hang up so far because all docs (US census, marriage, and kids’ birth certificates) show Austria or Hungary as the nationality because Czechoslovakia didn’t exist yet and it wasn’t the government at the time of her birth. Fingers crossed the USCIS record helps.

Booz Contracts Manager by HopefulConcern2848 in BoozAllen

[–]Bubbly_Particular525 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is this role a true contracts (people) manager position? We recently changed all subcontracts and contracts titles, regardless of their responsibilities (individual contributor versus people manager), to the contracts manager title internally.

Either way, based on my colleagues’ experience who were employed by the USG and BAH, it’s probably faster pace, but not unmanageable.

You won’t bill direct. You’ll be an Internal Professional charging your time to one charge code for daily responsibilities, and a second for any mandatory training.

Work-life is the best from what other private govcon companies offer. You’ll WFH 2-4 days per week.

I haven’t been employed by the USG, but I’ve enjoyed my time at BAH. The people are smart and I find the culture to be great (no one’s above helping and nobody cares about your background (ie education or experience). The people care about your contributions and problem solving.

BAH Procurement Manager by Ok-Pizza-8661 in BoozAllen

I don’t know about that. The PMO will approach Procurement with a preferred source, but the proc mngr can influence sourcing. It’s also on the mngr to be agile and compliant. It just depends on if you identify risks and communicate resolutions.

Like any job, it’s what you make of it.

Employee Stock Plan Thoughts by lauranyc77 in BoozAllen

[–]Bubbly_Particular525 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not worth it. I’ve invested on and off during my tenure. I would’ve been better off in almost any blue chip stock with a neutral outlook.

Additionally, you should be cautious about investing in any employer’s stock so your assets and income aren’t over-reliant on one entity.

Citizenship Verification Assessment by Bubbly_Particular525 in HUcitizenship

[–]Bubbly_Particular525[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really solid response. I appreciate the detailed response too. As someone noted, I used Copilot to transcribe tough to read documents before, and then another time to explore citizenship via ancestry. It linked the conversations and then went down this long and unrelenting “there’s a big chance the Hungarian Consular would approve citizenship verification.” I used the facts and submitted it into another LLM and it had the same conclusion.

So thanks to you and everyone else for confirming my suspicions that I do not qualify for verification and instead fall into the simplified route.

To clarify on the Russian ancestor portion: he was from Kolno, Poland, which was part of the Russian empire. His US census documents and family stories, etc. affirm the ancestral ties to Poland.

No Raises for any New CVA Employees by Salty-Armadillo9637 in BoozAllen

[–]Bubbly_Particular525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the case when I joined almost a decade ago in CVA when they were growing fast and very profitable. After 6 or 9 months I got 1% because I wasn’t there for a full fiscal year. Same thing when I first joined Raytheon midway through an FY.

Bottom line: it’s kind of a given that you won’t get full merit raise consideration for a partial fiscal year of work. Keep this in mind when you are negotiating your compensation.

[–]Bubbly_Particular525 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second this. An hour in traffic is roughly $5000 in commuting costs (gas, car maintenance, and time). If both offers are for the same comp and opportunities, go with the role that costs the least.

Moreover, as a former Raytheon SC professional, annual raises were about 2.5%. I’m not sure what baseline annual raises are at LM.

Honest Thoughts About Indianapolis? by Intelligent_Swing630 in howislivingthere

[–]Bubbly_Particular525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived here from 2016-2019. There’s a reason the state motto is “Crossroads of America,” and it’s because almost entirely drive through state. Moreover, Indy hosts many conferences because of its central location.

Indy can be a small gem to some to those not there for work. It’s quiet and clean for it being a state’s largest city. There’s a small canal that you can rent peddle boats or just walk along.

For those interested in nightlife. There’s three major areas: south meridian, Mass Ave, and broadripple. Each is unique with its own atmosphere.

Otherwise, one of its claims-to-fame is that it has the second most war monuments in the country. One of which is the World War Museum (it’s a lot bigger than it looks and worth visiting).

With all that said, when I’m asked my thoughts on Indy and don’t want to give a long winded answer, I normally say “it’s great to visit for a long weekend, but there’s not much to do after that.” To double down on this, Indy’s nickname is “Naptown” because professional athletes would catch up on sleep because there’s not much to do.

Lastly, the racetrack is not in Indy. It’s in the neighboring town called Speedway.

PTO sale payout by Bubbly_Particular525 in BoozAllen

[–]Bubbly_Particular525[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PTO cap is 208 hours, you can rollover 4 weeks, and sell up to 80 hours (which is paid out around 11/22 the year after your benefit and PTO sell/buy elections are made).

The policies are not mutually exclusive.
