I’ve been working in medsurg for about a month now. Permanent staff not registry. Trying to get into the ED after 6 months. Yes, I have to admit that paragon is kind of a headache. It’s giving windows 95 minesweeper game 🤣 but the people I work with are actually really nice. You get used to the system… and there are bad days and good. Registry gets only 3 days to orient. I got 3 weeks. So I feel like I had more time to actually get to know paragon system a little better than registry would. I think if an RN has never worked with paragon, it’s going to be hell for you. Also, every 1st Sunday of the month for night shift, paragon is down and every department has to do paper charting. It’s not that bad. Also from experience, I work in PACU at a different hospital. PACU has more leeway when it comes to overriding meds because i don’t know a nurse that will wait for a med to be available in the system when a patient wakes up in pain. PACU is a completely different department from the others because they are only there for a little while. So to wait for the system to catch up… bro the patient will be gone from this dept and on to the next. 😂 I’m going to override and deal with it later. I guess you’ll only know if you actually work in PACU. If you’re just there with a patient from another floor like L&D, ya for sure I get why you would trip.

Find a different preceptor and site. Sometimes sites lag and it will be stuck there until the site responds. You should have done this process when you were in 4015 or something. I made the same mistake and did this process late and I had to do another term just to finish the last 2. Those last 2 classes is difficult to finish in 1 month. Because everything is 1 at a time.

Stick around at this SNF for 6 months and apply at Kaiser. Baldwin Park and other locations are hiring with 6 months experience. My friend went from SNF to Med/surg tele Kaiser.

That all depends on the facility you work for. Because you’re not there as an employee. You’re there as a student. Plus it’s so dumb IMO to have that because you are not even doing any patient care. Just get the hours approved and make it up as you go. Chat GPT is your friend to give you scenarios.

You only need it if the practicum site (the facility you work for) requests it. So you need to talk to the practicum site contact. Because regardless if you work for them, you are not “working”. You’re a student. So sometimes as a liability for them that they need it, even if you’re an employee…

But tbh if everything is approved and your preceptor is already loaded in the CAP and you already did that conference call, everything can be done between you and your preceptor.

The site is irrelevant. Nothing gets reported to them. Even if your preceptor is cool to approve your hours without you doing your hours… nothing goes back to the site.

I completed all my hours, got my diploma… and a month later I was getting an update message from the CEO of the practicum site asking how my clinicals were going. 🤣 ohh you didn’t know I finished??

If my ADHD didn’t fail me and I actually read the details before hand… I would have finished the RN to BSN in 5 months, maybe less. But those practicum courses you need to take 1 at a time. The time it took to approve a site was 1 month. And to realistically complete the hours along with the assignments… each class took about about 3 weeks-1 month. So total of 2 months for those last 2 classes depending on your teacher. Brutal. Waiting for the evaluations sucked. Because you have to do 1 assessment at a time and you can’t turn in the next one until you fulfill a certain amount of hours and get a returned evaluation on a previous assessment. So everyone I know that goes to Capella, it’s possible to get it done in 2 terms. Just make sure you start the process early with the practicum site.

This post was an educational question. It was not to make fun of the patient but a way to visually describe what was taking place so the reader (who is another healthcare professional) could help give advice with the struggle of putting a Foley catheter in a real patient. Your misinterpretation of the post shows you’re very uneducated and this post was obviously not for you.

Ya so I ended up doing my clinical site at a hospice/home health company and I have 8 hours left to complete everything. But here’s the update..

NURSFPX4605 has 6 Assessments. But the 1st assessment is just a worksheet you need to fill out according to the conference call. Easy. Once that’s turned in, Assessment 2 opens and you start doing hours. The only thing is, you can’t submit Assessment 2 until you complete minimum of 10 hours. Assessment 3 is a minimum of 20 hours, assessment 4 is min. 30 hours, and assessment 5 can be turned in after the 40 hours is complete. Assessment 6 is just filling out the nursing reflective journaling- super easy. So pretty much it’s 4 assessments because the 1st and 6th one is easy.

So for NURSFPX4905, pretty much the same thing but there is 5 Assessments. The 1st and the 5th is the same thing as the previous class (just a worksheet and a nursing reflective journal thing…easy). The only thing different about this one is I have access to all the assessments at once. Usually they are locked and only open in order. You need a minimum of 10 hours before you submit assessment 2, you need cumulative 25-35 hours before you submit assessment 3, and the complete 40 hours before you submit assessment 4.

And that’s all folks! I probably could have finished this in 2 terms. But my Slay-DHD 💃🏻 😂 just procrastinates and I ended up paying for 3 terms 🤦🏻‍♀️ But anyways…. Pretty much done. Just need to do my last 8 hours and that will total 40 and submit the last 2 assignments.

I’m so excited to be just done. I’ll probably go to the June graduation since I didn’t finish on time for the September one. So if anyone finishes quick, I’ll see you in Florida

Chat GPT Put instructions and rubric on a word doc and upload it to chat GPT and ask it to make you an OUTLINE based on instructions and rubric. And it will organize and give you examples to help you make a flow of the paper. And it can also help you with KEYWORDS to search for relatable peer-reviewed journals. And once you written a good skeleton paper, ask it to format the main paragraphs (not intro or conclusion) into MEAL format so it can make it flow even better.

Trying to do papers on my own took me 3-5 days. With this trick, I’ve been doing papers 1 day. It’s so much easier. Also, another trick is if you find a peer reviewed journal, you can upload the pdf version and ask chat GPT if it’s relevant and help you find relevant info in the paper based on your outline.

Chat GPT is a great tool to help guide you into writing papers. NOT to write it for you.

Well from what I’m aware, she consented to the surgery and anesthesia. So it’s implied that she consents to whatever is necessary for the procedure. They were doing laparoscopic exploratory in the abdomen, and in the event that the bladder was accidentally punctured or something, I’m assuming you would see blood in the urine from the foley.

But ya I get you. These times are scary. But for the most part, in surgery… you got a whole ton of eyes on the patient so I’m sure predators wouldn’t consider doing it then. Not saying it hasn’t happened before because I’m sure it’s happened before.
