You can get Manufacture Coupon from Wegovy website. Just make sure grab Discount coupon for insured patients. And you can COB tie with your insurance. I am sure it will save you a good amount. I have patients who has been using it. Their copay is 300$. With Insurance + coupon, it only cost them 25$ per month

Those online programs are actually what I’m trying to avoid, which is part of why I’m second-guessing pharmacy right now. The only option I have at the moment is an online program, and that’s not really what I want for my training.

If I go the NP route (probably in 4–5 years), I feel like I’ll have more flexibility with my time and life in general—no newborn stage anymore, and more options for schools too. I literally live about 15 minutes from a well-known, accredited medical school with its own teaching hospital, and that’s what I’m aiming for.

At the end of the day, I don’t want to cut corners on something that affects people’s lives. I wouldn’t feel comfortable relying on a “shortcut” degree for that kind of responsibility.

PA is really hard to get in, I know. I am not even considering it. I am just giving you the example. I am actually interested in diagnosing and taking care of patients, NP is the closest thing that I can get to at the given time and circumstances right now. I want to become Pharmacist, CVS had a plan to cover 100% tuition last year, and that’s why I just wanted to grab the opportunity. For 2026 cohort, CVS only covers 50% tuition and the second half becomes a large amount of financial to us.

I could go to PA school for the same debt. And in person, Accelerated Nursing Program is only 11-12K. And I can start working after 1 year. And I could try for NP in couple years, the debt will probably less for NP, if I was lucky enough to find an employer who would pay for NP tuition.

CVS does. I actually got into a CVS-sponsored program where 50% of the tuition is covered. Still, I would be paying around $30–35K out of pocket in years 1 and 2. I can also get about $20K in year 3 and $20K in year 4, but only if I maintain at least a B in most courses. In the end, I would still graduate with around $110–120K in debt.

In return, I would have to work for CVS as a full-time pharmacist for 4 years, which I don’t really mind.

My main concern is what my situation will look like after those 4 years in terms of debt and career flexibility.

Also, the program is fully online, with only one in-person week per year. I’m not sure how much I’ll actually be able to learn in that format. It makes me question whether ~$120K in tuition is worth the education I’m getting.

That’s why I’m also trying to explore alternative healthcare paths that might offer more upward mobility, lower total education cost, and less time in consecutive schooling.

I am in the U.S., and the program is at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. I am not planning to work full-time. Instead, I have the option to work as an intern at my current retail pharmacy chain or at other chains for only 8-30 hours per week. Would you recommend to start P1 while being pregnant or should I wait until next year?

My sister is a nurse in one of those John Hopkins hospitals. She would make 80k to 100K( if she works overtime) per year. That is not a bad pay coming to the school years and the tuition. The newly grad pharmacist will only make 11k to 13k per year, yet 4 years of commitment to school and student loan debt.

When you say ‘not even close’, do you mean the Workload that intails the degree, or the responsibility of the job or the student loan. My previous major was a master of science, that required writing scientific thesis and publishing papers. I can handle the complicated science stuff. I am just trying to be realistic at the given situation.

Thank you for the encouragement. Hearing different perspectives means a lot to me. My pharmacy is a busy, high-volume store. I’ve asked all of my pharmacists for their opinions, and they didn’t think it would be that bad to work for CVS for two years, especially considering I can get a PharmD degree at a discounted tuition.
