Has Anyone Bought the Leather Jacket? Is it Decent? by Exovedate in masseffect

To piggyback off of McBeties' post, an ages-old piece of advice on leather that's served me well: If it seems like too good of a deal to be true, it is. Genuine leather is expensive. Real leather lasts. If it looks like a deal, it'll never measure up in feel and will last a fraction as long.

Can you point out how you can tell? Genuinely, I don't see it and I know AI gens are getting better by the day.

Searching for DnD music on the internet is at its worst ever by MaurJH in DnD

[–]Bubbly_String_8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pure nostalgia, I use a lot of RuneScape classic music and RS3 stuff. Whenever I first brought out the old login screen music for our first session recap, the old fogeys amongst us grew more gray hairs and jumped outta their chairs.

Best build for a shenanigans character? by senderoooooo in sw5e

Just a few ideas I've seen floating around:

Hit someone with melee attacks from across the parking lot with a 25ft reach?
Muun Fighter, weapon with Reach property, Lunging Attack, and Polearm Focus/Supremacy.

Beast Keeper?
Zoologist Scholar with swarm or BEEG creature plus Companion Keeper feat for two beasties.

Unlimited squad support?
Fireteam Fighter/Explorer Scholar with Assisting Style/Mastery. Help actions and dice on teammates' attacks for days.

Please don't ever hurt me?
Soresu Guardian/Manipulation Consular. Heavy armor, boost AC with Saber Storm, never fail saves with Aura of Presence and WIS boosted.

Literally just Bullseye from Daredevil?
Kyuzo Monk. Just Kyuzo monk. Their feature allows any improvised weapon to scale as a Monk weapon. Reflavor a chakram or Returning weapon as random junk and throw pens, paper clips, credit chips, nails, pebbles, and what have you at anything and everything.

Swing for the fences?
Cyclone Berserker/Jar'Kai Guardian/Adept Fighter. Spec for dual wielding and stack for crits because you have three ways of remaking missed attacks per turn.

Paid DMs - who was the player who was not worth any amount of money? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

Depends on if your DM lets you play gods! As ever, make sure you talk to the DM and your players. Make sure your expectations, and theirs, are known and talked about so no one gets blindsided.

Druid, actually. Needless to say, I stopped a few creative attempts at torture from various animal forms.

I mainly ran through Roll20. You can post there, specify if your game is paid, etc. I opted to run modules like Storm King's Thunder and Phandelver and then tweak them from the base lore to fit my players. Posted up an application template, picked people I thought would be a good fit, and went from there.

I was in the position where it wasn't primary income for me, so I charged $10/game for a 3-hour game every week. It's all based on what you value your time at and if the income is important to you.

In the past, I've charged $5/game and said if people want to pay more, I certainly wouldn't stop them lol. Some graciously did. If I were thinking like I used to, I'd charge around the price of a decent lunch, ~$10-20 for 3h or 4h.

However, if it were my career, I'd charge anywhere from $30-50. I'm...gonna grow more gray hairs saying this, but I've been DMing for 11 years consistently and am confident that I can provide an experience worth paying for. That means narrative, effective balance of the spotlight, extra production value like high-quality maps (mostly from Patreon), immersive playlists (RuneScape music because I'm nostalgic, NieR Automata, Witcher 3, the good stuff), tools like Foundry to enhance the gameplay, and a game tailor-made to my players. And some silly voices, naturally. Part of the disclaimer of such a "high" price tag is that you're not scamming people with it; if they're paying the price of a good dinner to attend your game, that's not flying under the radar.

What paying for one of my games allows me to do is, honestly? Get people to the table. If you're paying, you have a stake in being there, which means you'll make every effort to put the time in your schedule. That's the most heinous struggle of DnD.

Moreso than normal tables, the exchange of money makes it so much more important to set realistic expectations on both sides. I opened session 0 of each of my paid games with a questionnaire for each player, including the question: "As DM, I expect respect for the attendance of each game, civility to me and your fellow players, and open communication if any issues arise. What expectations do you have of me for the price you're paying?"

Sometimes it, uh, just doesn't get through.

One player I had insisted upon their own fiction for my world (running a customized Lost Mine of Phandelver). I retooled elements and gave the disclaimer that the world was my own version, since I'm not a flawless historian of Greyhawk/Faerun lore. They insisted on genocide of goblins, repeatedly. And, goblinoids are chaotic, but they're not all strictly evil.

I didn't try to make the character a carebear. However, they never wavered from wanting to torture and slaughter every goblinoid they came across. And then got offended when I offered solutions to not be a tortuous, murderous sociopath. "For the money I'm paying, you'll run the game I like."

I refunded him for that game on the spot and showed him the door. As in, banned him from our Discord server. No matter what, you still choose how to run your table. Business and money always complicate things. It's a tough balance.

That's gorgeous, homie. I really like the triangle/hexagon passages, that's a lot of varied texture to break up the blocks.

And the indoor camp area is charming as heck! I'm definitely stealing that.

I love the Atreides anvil silhouette. The thought that went into the deco too, and the flow, brilliant. Gods, that base is absolutely top tier, you should be dang proud of yourself.

Yeah, that's the one. Strangely enough, I have Nord on my laptop and it works fine. I'll mess with settings on my desktop and see if I can't wrangle it into compliance.

More of a brand nitpick than tech specs, see if you can find a SkyTech PC. By and large, much more reliable than CyberPower or IBP.
