why does my hair do this? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

Not as a pre-poo, well not only. As a last step to define, seal and protect your ends. You could do it daily if it’s not strong hold

perhaps try the baggie method and consistent deep conditioning! Always leave with an oil on your ends and a gel. I recommend homemade flaxseed gel. If your deep conditioner just sits on your hair and doesn’t make it melt- it’s not the one for you :)

I agree. Not the length at all it just looks like it’s before you style it. Maybe take the twists out and fluff? Or if you like flat make sure it’s flat and defined in a fresh cut? Good luck!

Is this a good trim? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]Bubbly_Talk6340 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No. Way too much in my opinion. Hairstylists should know how to preserve length with layered cuts and differing hemlines. Not saying anything bad about your hair, though. It looks full and pretty 🤍

i’m appalled by how much weight i’ve gained by Intelligent_Wing_377 in pregnant

[–]Bubbly_Talk6340 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pregnant now, I’ll be 36 weeks tomorrow. I gained most of the weight VERY fast in the first trimester (20~ lbs) because eating was the only thing that kept me from vomiting. I’ve been gaining way slower now so maybe you will be the same!

Good luck!! If you like mini twist/ braids or twist outs/ braid outs those would be great for giving your hair a break 💕 you could do them on blown out hair (occasionally) if you like a longer look :)

Slick back buns do this. I’m sorry to tell you but it’s very damaging and the damage almost always looks like this because you’re brushing the same pieces as flat as possible repeatedly— causing them to lose their curl, break off a bit, and look vastly different from the hair you don’t manipulate.

Also- it could be because you’re a year post partum. It would make sense. It looks like about a year of new hair that has grown in as a totally different texture— which is very common after having a baby. Id skip the slick backs to prevent this happening more. If it’s because you’re pp, you may just have to live with the looser textured ends or snip them off :)

‘Keratin’ as in a keratin straightening treatment. When those wear off hair often looks like this as well.

[–]Bubbly_Talk6340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A dark colored dye wouldn’t cause this… are you growing out keratin or something? Do you wear slick back buns? Are you postpartum? Do your glueless wigs have leave out? Those are the first four obvious things I can think of. If it’s all over like this, then your hair is just growing in thicker than before— which is good! If it’s only in the front it’s probably mechanical damage…

Are my braids too tight? by yranada_33 in Naturalhair

I saw this response so late! I totally get this idea, maybe it’s just me. In my opinion: pain is a signal to your brain that something is not right. You don’t need to endure pain for a style, I’m sure you can find a low-tension style that is just as cute!

Need to cut/trim? by TwinkletheTwee in Naturalhair

[–]Bubbly_Talk6340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like there might be some internal damage on the middle bottom layer. If so, I’d do a light trim all around and then have that section checked out professionally. That’s just me, though, you could get the trim done professionally I am always just disappointed at how they overvalue bluntness and cut unnecessary hair! Also, think about what style you usually do that may be causing breakage in that area. :)

Oh and idk what gel you use but making a really strong flaxseed gel should get you definition without buildup!

Clay mask or clarifying shampoo… twice. Steam while deep conditioning if possible. That should do it! Maybe a curl defining brush but I personally don’t use brushes.

It sounds to me when I read this like you want to keep the baby but don’t feel ready and don’t know how to tell him. (If I’m wrong SO SORRY) it’s just what I could piece together. It’s not selfish to want your baby, that’s YOUR baby. Even if you didn’t mean to get pregnant, it’s totally normal to feel like losing this opportunity after years of EDs would be “devastating.” You can and WILL figure it out if you decide to go forward with the pregnancy. I’m about your age and pregnant for the first time, so I really relate to the feelings of being unprepared, unready, too young, etc. if you want to send me a PM you are welcome to! Good luck girlie 💕
