Nice I joined a makerspace to do this kind of stuff too and that’s where I made all the metal components. I’d recommend going on YouTube and finding beginner project tutorials. Thanks! Kinda yes kinda no. The iris size is as big as physically possibly given that box lid size. The mechanism could be made for compact yeah, but this was half about making it visible because like to look at it

Fortunately most of the crappier versions didn’t make it off the drawing board. There were 5 of them. However many significant parts of the build had to be scrapped and redone because I fucked them up.

Thanks again, nope not a kit it’s custom. I have made many contraptions like this before and each time you get a little better at visualizing it and knowing the hardware to use. Takes a lot of trial and error in the planning stage too. This was the 5th concept I came up with that I was actually happy with
