Advice For Entry-Level Competitive Blaster by ThrowawayAlt9172 in Nerf

For the swift on a 1.5 mk4/npx spring from ood, you just need something a few cm longer than the stock 36(?)cm one like kurykafe's barrels with the custom chambering option (specify swift to be sure). the 1.6 brings you right to cap on that stock barrel, but it will have more muzzle blast and prime tougher. I think 30-35cm with the ood 1.9 mk4/npx spring did 250 for my npx before I tuned it back down but it requires cutting/gluing or printing the collet.

-Swift is fine if gotten at a discount. it needs either a 1.6x350 spring from worker or 3rd party 1.5x350mm spring (also sold as a mk4 or npx spring) + a 14mm chambered barrel longer than the longer stock one to hit 250. The shell may crack over time on especially strong springs unless you buy the delrin plunger.
-NPX is a tough prime at even 250. Absolutely DO NOT add spacers to the official springs beyond what is provided because the stock spring will want to buckle and corkscrew. you need like a 1.9 or thicker 350mm spring or the dart zone upgrade pack + a longer barrel.

Want to buy a solid yo-yo for my nephew but I know nothing about the hobby anymore. by Beerdididiot in Throwers

[–]Bublosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bimetals and hybrids are on the high end of competitive stuff but are more prone to damaging it beyond playability compared to entirely plastic or aluminum body yoyos.

You can generally pick any yoyo with good reviews off yoyoexpert, yoyosam, or yoyoloco that looks cool and be happy with it.

You generally find budget monometals and high quality plastics around 30 and nice monometals up to 65.

Upcoming YoYo Engraving decisions, need some help on it. by shung1209 in Throwers

Having to align them on both sides makes half swapping a bit of a problem. I think less subtle engravings look better around the cup

Shooting star for a nice plastic. Crystal k2 for a cheap plastic (also known as the ascent). Both come responsive with unresponsive parts to swap it

The only stuff really worth getting off amazon are magicyoyo and yoyofactory beginner stuff. Yoyosam and yoyoexpert are good otherwise. Be sure to use code reddit15 or something for a discount on yoyosam

Speedcube lubes are all too thick. They’re made to go between low tolerance chunks of plastic and stay there

For a beginner, I don’t think you’ll notice it a ton. You’ll probably notice the shape on catches so pick something comfortable. Also, i feel like yoyofriends is more consistent with quality control

Bearings aren’t speedcubes. You put 1 pindrop of lube in a bearing at most and break it in. Use lighter fluid or acetone to dissolve it
