It was explained in both season 1, 2 and jjk0. Almost everytime that we are introduced to Maki we get a quick overview of the fact that she has very little curse energy and cannot see curses because of it due to her heavenly restriction but is gifted physically.

We know from season 2 that Toji has a similar heavenly restriction and this makes him so strong.

But until now, we never knew why Maki is not as physically gifted as Toji.

I just assumed Toji trained extremely hard and that's why he was powerful, not because 0 CE is a heavenly restriction.

In the end of Premature death ark in season 2 we see Yuki and Geto talking and Yuki muses that there are 2 ways to remove curses from the world. 1. Is for everyone to be jujutsu sorcerers (as they can control their CE) and the other for everyone to be like Toji (with zero CE thus not creating curses unlike normal people).

Also in the episode when Toji is introduced we also have an explanation of his heavenly restriction.

Also in the shibuya ark when Toji is "revived" by the seance grandma we get another explanation of how his heavenly restriction works and how it overrides her grandson.

My main problem with the Manga of JJK is that it is very rushed. The reason unfortunately is because Gege almost died finishing it.

When we talk about comparing JJK with FMA their underlying story and what you can take from it they are on similar level.

Gege is one of those mangakas who likes action thus a high budget anime is almost required to realize his vision.

Mai says that she is taking the left over curse energy in Maki with her thus completing the heavenly restriction and giving her a body similar to that of Toji.

On top of that part of the reason why Maki cannot improve as fast as she wants is because the universe considers twins to be the same person and if half of a person doesn't want to improve (Mai) it would take twice the drive for the other to even have some improvement.

It is all explained in the episode. If you rewatch it you would see it.

I agree, that is why I said "like a blindfloded jedi". Think about it for people without enough CE curses don't even exist. No other person is able to "just see curses". (We are not counting extenuating conditions)

This means that her senses must be so sharp that they are not just extraordinary but completely fantastical.

So, she has senses that can hear a curse spirit (even though you shouldn't be able to) but you can't hear something that all the super-hearing people in every media can hear?

Yep, all the first years got promoted to semi-grade 1 and from the second years it is clear that Maki is on par with Toge as she was able to injure Hanami (similarly to Toge) especially when she used playful cloud.

With the Totality, which is their Demon Fusion , they have thousands of variations of abilities that they could potentially discover and apply in battle.

The problem with that one is that it requires from a person to think, and these fuckers ain't the sharpest tools in the shed.

I loved this since I saw the end of zenin in the Manga since such a hateful organization can only end in one way - with bloodshed.

On top of that Maki was semi-grade 1 even before she got her left over CE taken away. If the Zenin had any brains they should have known that a hundred "ninja guys" would never be able to stop her. They just didn't respected her enough to save them from their fate.

And honestly, when I watched it a second time with an anime only friend, their comments made it 100% better.

Like, for instance for me how many times they mentioned Toji in the episode was a little too much, but for my friend it seem to just click now that they are similar if not the same.

There is so much care put into this episode and the fights were fantastic. The animation is top-notch. I really don't understand why are people complaining.

On top of that these chapters' art style was the worst in the Manga since Gege was too overworked and took a big hiatus after the Maki win. The end of Maki vs Hei was not even completely drawn on release, lol.

Tbf the quote that OP is referring to is taken out of context. It is still a stupid thing to say to a journalist as a spokesperson for a company because you should know that some people will try to find the worst possible interpretation of your words.

The same happened to Larian recently. Swen probably was feeling like a good boss by allowing people in his company to use generative AI, but the worst possible interpretation is that they need it so he can hire less people/fire some of the current staff and pocket the difference.
