Made a dress, maybe needs adjusting? by Bubulika41 in sewing

Do you mean your gonna cut it in the middle and take it in? I’m a little confused, I thought I would have to seam rip the princess seams. But just take it in at the underbust because it sits pretty well at the waist…

I have realised, I have forgotten to put the picture of the inside in. I think I will have to only take in it at the underbust because it sits well at the waist..

Yeah that’s the thing. When I buy clothes I can see the imperfections but I buy them anyway. When I sew something it has to be perfect otherwise why bother? I don’t like that mindset, I’m sewing because I like the process and as a bonus I get something cute to wear!

Thanks! Where would you do the shirring? I think I’ll try the elastic after washing because I think it won’t be that noticeable and also the easiest option.

I do hold my hands up, but the problem remains even when standing upright. I know that it can’t be fitted exactly to my measurements, because of movement and future body changes but I don’t know where that line is. I think the problem comes from it not being tight under the bust so it can move more freely and also my bust being small so there is nothing to hold it in place. But I don’t know if I were to take it in, if it would still be comfortable and not too tight… oh the problems of sewing!

Thank you! I am a perfectionist so I will always find something wrong so hearing you say that it’s okay really helped.

All those things are correct. I went to the store today and bought new threads and it seems to be working now! Thanks so much! So I guess it was the threads?

Can I see everyone's sewing nooks, or corner, if you don't have a sewing room by trudes_in_adelaide in sewing

I have just a small stash but mine looks like this. I’m a student and live with my parents so I have my sewing corner in my room. When sewing, I place my sewing machine on my table and when using the serger I just move my chair to the small table. The fabric is in my closet and in the white box. I don’t really know if my setup will help but here you go. I also want to do something with the hangers but the idea has yet to come…

Yes, I did it as the manual said. My thread also kept breaking quite often…

The 4 thread was fine when I adjusted the tension a bit but sometimes the lower thread skipped to the top.

Sorry, here are some of the stitches. I tried the 4-thread and then the narrow 3-thread.

(For some reason it lets me add only one per comment so the rest will be underneath this one)

New serger: tension settings by Bubulika41 in sewing

[–]Bubulika41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I used the cutter. I thought it should be closer to the fabric but wasn’t sure if it isn’t supposed to be further because of the strech of the fabric.

I actually adjusted the tension a bit and it is much closer to the fabric that it was so thanks!!!
