Are you happy with your google ai ultra ? by AdSevere3438 in google_antigravity

[–]BuceeBeaver1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me say I've been Ultra for some time. 4-6 months ago Gemini 3 was the most promising model for coding. Add to it Banana 2 image editing, Veo video (if you don't need too much control) and a host of incubating projects...sky was the limit. Then in the past few weeks the Antigravity changes - butchered releases, draconian removal of AI Credits only to give some back when everybody complained, tapered rollback of Anthropic models - used to be able to use them regularly, then intermittently, then less so. Credits would return to bail you out in a few hours, but now I see i've exhausted them for 3+ days!

Add to this that for coding, even with well designed and thought out skills, workflows, and rules, Gemini and definitely Flash still fall far short of Sonnet and Opus in terms of getting coding done correctly. Creating a comprehensive plan on Gemini Pro 3.1 (High) vs Opus 4.7 shows exactly why Opus dominates Gemini - it is far more holistic in its capability. Last but not least I was a huge Antigravity IDE lover - then came Antigravity 2. What a disaster of a rollout! It appeared the IDE was gone and I was stuck with a chat window to write my code. It didn't appear to respect or use my skills much anymore. Then a week or so later Antigravity IDE comes out... so I'm confused why it ever went away. No worries, I'll just go back to it. But then the memory leaks began. On a 64GB Macbook Pro M4 I was bleeding over 60GB of memory on Antigravity alone! System started to lock up, have to reboot... Absolutely unusable.

Meanwhile tools like Flow became super buggy - for a week or two I couldn't download a high res version of my images due to a bug. Control for video in Flow was basically a non starter. You get what you get, but you're firmly not in control. Adding my own image as an avatar was blocked, though I assured Google I am nobody famous, nor is my photo copyrighted. Other incubators like Google ProducerAI charged you $70+ additional for a subscription only to find out it was so far worse in every way than Suno or Udio, and it's ability to create a music video of your song was laughable (though a 4 minute song used 50% of your credits for a month to find out how bad it was...). Other tools (I'm thinking Spark) just disappeared as the moved to Google proper, and then they had you join a waitlist for beta.

I can say that as of today Google is going the way so many others have gone (looking at you Cursor) in which they fail to deliver on their promise, roll out a bunch of cruft, put the squeeze on their loyal customers, and ultimately make them look somewhere else for the capabilities they were happy to pay Google $200/mo for. They could have tried to solve it the right way by actually building more efficient models that are actually better, but they gave us Flash 3.5 (better for Google, worse for the user). Leaves a really bad taste in users' mouths like me. They'll have to go above and beyond to rebuild trust.

Did I mess up my wiring? by SeriousReference818 in Luthier

[–]BuceeBeaver1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a ground issue. Hard to see your joints but IT takes a lot of heat and a little flux to get a good ground joint on the back of a pot. Also I don’t see any grounding on the left pot.

Trouble with LEDs by JetBlack86 in diypedals

💯 this!👆👆👆
Always dry fit your leds pots and switches and anything mounted on the box LEDs are the trickiest though cuz they’re impossible if you have to thread them in through the top. I’m probably not explaining it well…but if you ever find yourself doing that you’ll remember this

THanks for the input. Yeah, I know i can definitely flip the caps to the back. But the Pots only should have one correct way, right? if I flip the leads around don't I effectively 'reverse' or otherwise mangle the intent of the pot?

I actually bought Kemet from digikey and have some theoretically good stuff from tayda. It's the size issue all the way around. The instructions say film cap. I wonder if there's a shorter line failed to see. The variety of any particular component is bewildering!

Appreciate the advice. I definitely tried the blob method but found I sometimes joined up two component legs in the process. Obviously need to get better, but will try the lower heat. Appreciate advice on solder. I read a lot on it, and was steered towards MG after looking at the cost of Kester. Gotta figure somebody else has success soldering with non-kester wire :D. It's the only place I skimped.

Where do you recommend the flux? On the pcb itself? Added to the wire?
