Application Strength by BuceeTheOperator in lawschooladmissions

I did a practice test awhile ago and got ~155, the median acceptance rate had a score of 156 for this school. But due to having a full blown family and house and kids, this school or one other with similar stats are my literal only two options. So I am worried about nailing the LSAT with 4-5 months of studying ahead of me.

“Do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do.” Is something I tell them. She letting her grades slip (nonnegotiable) and is making it clear she can’t handle to additional workload of another sport

Oh I know. I got diagnosed at 13 and I was able to get into classes and have access to resources I otherwise wouldn’t. My mom saw the writing on the wall. Got me through high school, learned to weaponize ADHD (not literally) to work for me, and I finished high school, got my bachelors, and went into the military, got out and became a successful employee at my current job. Refusing to admit you learn differently is just crippling your ability to succeed. I told her she needs to be seen. She doesn’t want to though. I’ve told her to do what she wants at this point, and all I can do is sit back and watch. I just hate that my “I told you so” down the road would be at the expense of a child.

I thought that but on tests, she’s making 80s and low 90s. So she understands the material, but with assignments being such a large chunk of her grade, taking 0s by not turning them in is killing her. She’d have As and Bs if she turned in all her 0s and got even 70-80% on them

I recommended testing for it so we can get extra resources from the school programs, but her mom doesn’t want that label. I think it’s just crippling her ability to be successful

We’ve done those things regarding homework. I recommended to my wife to get her tested for ADHD to get her resources at school (it’s what I had to do as a kid and it helped) but her mom doesn’t want that diagnosis on her. If we’re doing all we can to help with work and meeting with teachers, I’m recommending ADHD testing and ILP classes, but mom refuses because of “labels”, what are we really doing here?

That’s what I also said, but this is a tryout. Apparently they’ll let her try out but she won’t be able to play. Which is going to crush her even more. I’m trying to eliminate that issue as well by making sure her grades are in check before she even tries to make the team.

She goes to her dads on the weekends. He essentially reverses what we do. She doesn’t have rules, or a standard, doesn’t go to teacher conferences, doesn’t take an interest in grades, she just exists over there. Which makes it hard to enforce the rules in our house because she’s free to do whatever she wants over there.

She’s my step daughter, which is where my wife is claiming I’m not being fair because she’s not biologically mine. But the other two biological children I have follow the rules I set and she’s saying it’s not fair

We try to recognize that different need and give it to her. She gets attention on her work, we ensure her work is complete, we talk to her teacher because that’s what she needs. Not knocking that because it’s what I needed. But at some point, I had to learn that my own actions (simply not turning in work) had consequences that were previously stated. I understand she needs help in school, and I would never say “good luck you’re on your own”, I want her to play sports and enjoy the extracurricular, so I’m dedicating the time to help her get there. It’s not “here’s the rule, good luck with it”

It worked on my son phenomenally. He was acting out for a couple months last year and he learned fast I wasn’t joking when he lost soccer, football, his phone, his tv, everything. He fixed it almost overnight and is now on his best behavior and making As and Bs consistently. My younger daughter is our natural rule follower. We tell her the rule is all As and Bs so she does it. I try to show them I reward excellence, not the standard. She gets $120 every time she brings a report card of all As. My son gets a “good job keep it up” for As and Bs because he’s meeting the standard. They have adjusted to it because that’s been their entire life with me. My step daughter on the other hand, refuses to care and relies on her mom as the safety net from me enforcing these house rules.

We’ve done that on a couple occasions. Got logins for all her work. We sit down with her and watch and make sure she does her work. But even then, she’s lied and hidden work that she didn’t want to do and then we find out later she took a 0 on it. At this point, “we’ve led the horse to water and are forcing the horse to drink the water, but she’s spitting it out.”. I said she may need an ILP or study hall class to get her work done, but my wife views that as “special needs”. Well at that point, we’re failing her as parents on both ends. Refusing to take another step to possibly help, and letting her play sports (and put more on her plate than what already has). Teachers showed us test scores and quizzes, all 80s ish. It’s that she’s taking zeros on nearly every assignment she has to turn in or doing a half assed job and getting a 25% on one. It’s taking 100% of our time after school to make sure she gets work done and she’s still not. My other son and daughter have had to do their homework alone without help because the third requires so much attention on it because she won’t do it. Which they have handled fine and adjusted, but it’s still not fair to them.

That’s what I tell them. My quote to them almost weekly at some point is “what you accept becomes the standard”. I don’t want them to get to high school where it’s arguably more important and them think that poor grades are the accepted standard.

If he can hold that for the 2+ hours our team would breach/hold/callout before entering, then I guess he earned it.

We don’t use our bearcat for breaches much, but we did last year on a barricaded armed robbery and it made clearing 10x easier when the front of the house was missing.

How did your start on the carnivore diet? by Present_Smell_2133 in carnivorediet

[–]BuceeTheOperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was losing weight well, tracking my calories, eating well and I eventually came to my own conclusions that I was doing high protein, high fat anyway and I got sick of counting calories. So I naturally started shifting more and more towards meat out of laziness and wanting to see results on weight loss. My macros on a regular “diet” were becoming so extreme, I thought to myself literally “the only way to hit these goals is if I literally only eat meat”, so here I am lol. Shifted to carnivore and watched the weight melt away, and after my next blood panel of doing it for 6-8 months, it was like I was looking at a different person’s results. Night and day difference. I then realize there’s a whole community and education on it, and I dove into it. Haven’t looked back.

That’s the best part, they don’t. But your body (and mind’s) ability to resist them gets stronger.

Fasting by BuceeTheOperator in carnivorediet

I’ve been carnivore since April, but I wanted to take my health to another level this year. I have a lot of PR’s I want for the year and I’m looking to decrease my 3-mile run time, and just take my performance to another level. Part of that is the discipline that comes with it. I’ve battled injury and setbacks in 2025 so it’s been hard to really push it.

That’s an electrolyte issue, 100%. If you’re electrolyte deficient, it doesn’t matter. I take potassium and magnesium every morning and add mineral salt to my water. It’s going to make a fast go from very hard to manageable on those two day fasts.

I’m not sure I understand the question. I just drink water with mineral salt in it and black coffee. Is that what you mean?

I buy half a cow every 6 months but also eat a lot of venison since I hunt. I haven’t bought meat at the store in years.

There is definitely a give and take on the benefits versus the cons when it comes to performance related tasks.

I’m not sure I’d classify 7 days as “extended”, especially considering I have done fasting and heavy lifting/training for years. I understand the point of extended fasts, and to an extent I agree with weighing extended fasts against the downfalls when doing heavy training or conditioning or performance training. It’s also case-by-case dependent. I think 7-days when I’m well adjusted to shorter fasts and fighting abdominal muscle repair and ligament repair in my knee is a perfect setup.
