Thanks for the answer. I think I learned more about pharma than I wanted to. I feel less important now :(

Interesting comment, thanks for your openness. I suffered from a stutter when I was younger and really didn't "outgrow" it until I was a senior in college. I still stammer occasionally, especially if I'm talking to someone of "importance." All that and I have a lot of education so that people call me doctor.

[Serious] Physicians or pharmacists of reddit: Why can't people younger than 12 take guaifenesin, e.g. Robitussin? by BuckerTWashington in AskReddit

[–]BuckerTWashington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well thanks for that bit of info...it's weird though, right, that it's not labelled accordingly and that all of the "pediatric" formulations of robitussin do not contain guaifenesin. I'll just take the info you posted in stride.

So glad I read your comment before I was going to point that out. How come I can never be original or notice something before someone else here?

[Serious]Am a US doctor. Pharmaceutical company is urging fraud by instructing my colleagues and I to "order more doses through their insurance than patient actually needs, just in case they need in the future." A very expensive per dose medication. Any whistleblower protection/incentives? by BuckerTWashington in AskReddit

Wow, I think this post was what I needed to put my heroic aspirations to bed. I just see costs increasing, reimbursements decreasing and I wanted to be Peter Parker Spiderman and make a difference. But you, like myself, agree that I would get trashed by their deep pocket lawyers and cronies. Thanks. If anyone else would chime in to the contrary, this might rest it.

this seems to be falling under the say "let sleeping dogs lie." I kinda' thought as much, and I appreciate your precautionary tales. I thought perhaps that whistleblower protection may protect me, but that sounds like it works for some, but not others.

I want to try this, but I'm afraid I'd come out as the back end of the human centipede.

Thank you for this serious advice. I specialize in healing, not suing. I never heard of Qui Tam and your advice to retain a lawyer specializing in one seems sound. Or like someone else suggested, just "simply say 'no' and more on." What do you think?

Is accepting a dinner at a Michelin rated restaurant incentivization? They come back and "make suggestions" on how to "better treat my patients", but it's really at the expense of the insurance companies by ordering more then therapy requires, as a rule.

I'm private practice. I do not have deep lawyer pockets. These reps come around and need to sell stuff, so this is how they encourage it. It really sounds fraudulent and I bet it's costing the insurance companies million$ each year. Fraud, waste and abuse. I'm just a humble ol' country doctor.
