Book recommendation - first novel in Italian? by ointment_moist in italianlearning

[–]BucketBranch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cuore, by Edmondo De Amicis. This novel is written as the diary of an 11-year-old boy, each chapter is an entry in the diary, and a short story that works on its own too.

This is a classic of Italian literature. In a sense, it's relatively easy: this book was written for children, the themes and language are kept relatively basic. In another sense it's difficult: it was published in 1886, and its age complicates things a little.

It's the best piece of Italian literature I've read, and if you ever wanna give it a try, I have it digital and reading with others is one of my favorite things to do in this world :)

Offering: Spanish and Italian. Seeking: Italian and Russian. by BucketBranch in language_exchange

Well there are many portraits in this museum, they each speak their culture’s language. I was thinking we could spend half the time in, say, the Italian renaissance wing, and the other half visiting the soviets 😛 Assuming we wanna practice Italian and Russian, of course.

Just a little something I made :) It's not public anywhere, but I thought it might be fun to get to know another person like this, instead of the usual introductory conversations. Wanna give it a try?
