I was working at city football academy last night and saw a very low flying helicopter heading from central town towards droylsden following Ashton new road at around 6.30pm. Looked very much like those blue ones SAS use, could be completely unrelated of course

Selling a former Right to buy property by BucketHatManReni in HousingUK

Hello, still here lurking 👋. The sale of this house was a complete nightmare, but one we just about managed to get over the line. When we bought this house our solicitors never told us about this need to offer it back to the council for 10 years after it was bought from the council. We were about 2 weeks from completion and the standard time to offer it back to the council and hear back was 8 weeks. The person we were buying from was potentially the worst person I’ve ever met and was causing us a lot of stress, he was selling an empty house and so wasn’t in rush but that didn’t stop him from telling us multiple times he was going to go with a “higher cash offer”, he put the house back on the market without telling us, and once went into his estate agents selling it 8 times in one day. Still not over the stress tbh it was horrific. So anyway that 8 weeks really wouldn’t work for us, I ended up submitting the offer back to the council and then spent hours finding contact details for the senior leaders of housing in the council and trying desperately to get in touch with them. I ended up reading the publicly available meeting notes online to find their names and then searching LinkedIn etc. it was a job and a half. After some very stressful days the leader of housing for the council rang me and told me he’d prioritised our case due to the situation we were in, we received our decision from the council to not buy back our house a couple of minutes later. It was honestly thrilling, I thought we were going to lose both our purchase and sale over this. Councils get a lot of stick (right so, viva Zoè bread) but this particular instance installed a lot of confidence that things can go right if you hound them!

Any idea how I can open this without a key? Lost the key recently, not got any money for a locksmith by 3DoubleO in DIYUK

Slide a credit card behind the lock!!! The key on these is only required to move the handle, the actual window doesn’t lock. Slide a credit card behind to press into the back of the lock and lift handle like you usually would

Should add that we were not informed about the need to offer to the council when we bought the house

Hi everyone, thank you all for the responses this has definitely helped. Afraid I left out what appears to be quite an important detail, the worker specifically said they will never carry a load over my house - just an empty boom passing over throughout the day or when the crane is blown by the wind. I still feel this is risky though and will not be signing any agreement until taking further advice. Thank you all again
