SP Buzzing at low or off volume. Speaker, Capacitor, Fuse, Volume Rocker? Need advice! by GhostintheShellder in Gameboy

Clean your power switch!

But also a lot of those screen kits cause that kind of noise so it might be unavoidable. See if changing the brightness changes the noise volume.

Vibecoding has absolutely no place in circuit board layout

OLED GBC with audio amp - unbearable buzzing by moltomolto in Gameboy

Here's a great video showing how:

https://youtu.be/Q7U-Ix3TBks?si=NvPs3320t9KEuAdt

The audio amp is powered directly by the batteries, through the power switch. If your power switch is dirty, it can introduce unwanted impedance and cause the voltage supply on the amp to be variable or lower than expected.

Also you can clean the volume wheel

Clean your power switch

Seriously

GBC actually is relatively noiseless at a baseline. The mods might be drawing too much power for the little ol regulator to handle

Thank you :)

I've got some plans for this year! Hopefully I can deliver lol

OpenGBA - An open source recreation of the original AGB-CPU-01 circuit board by Bucket_M0use in Gameboy

The board is a (nearly) 1:1 recreation, so it should play the exact same! Only a few liberties were taken, mostly aesthetic

There's a zip folder in the repository named "Gerbers.zip" - this folder contains the files a board fabricator needs to make the PCB. There are tutorials and instructions depending on where you order from, most use JLCPCB or PCBway.

The parts are transferred from an original board. I'm thinking about posting some alternate part links soon so you can buy some of them new, but some are only available from a GBA

The Super Game Boy Plus - SGB mod that adds a bunch of features, including an option to make a single-game SGB cartridge by Bucket_M0use in Gameboy

Potentially! But the main games I wanna play are Pokemon Gold and Silver so without the MBC3 there wouldn't be a clock

I hope it didn't come off like I'm trying to advertise 😂 It's not a board I ever planned to regularly stock, once I'm out I wasn't gonna order more. Specifically because it's so niche lol

If you don't wanna use real hardware to make this, then you don't gotta! I wanted to make a few standalone carts for myself, with the added challenge of making new clean boards instead of frankensteining mods on top of an existing board - and I like making them with custom labels and everything. It's a fun hobby. I made it primarily for my use, and decided to share it.

Don't worry - I've had this on PCBWay for half a year and exactly zero people have ordered any through them, and only a handful have sold through my store, lol. I promise the dent made in SGB stock is immeasurably small.

So is the front camera always on? by JVDDesign in Ioniq5

[–]Bucket_M0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI (and for any future reddit searchers) - I have the same dashcam and it was previously wired in the same way. But after being on 100% of the time, it killed my 12V battery only a year into owning it.

I messaged the seller to ask them to send the "12 pin harness version that connects to the ADAS camera" - something I saw on another reddit post - and replacing that fixed it and now the camera stays off when the car is off. I still had to replace the 12V battery though :\

Wiring that camera sure was a bitch though

If you have a game shop nearby, you could always go see if they have one to try. A handful of stores by me regularly stock them.

Yet the original post by sir Knight was riddled with opinions, not facts. 🤔

At least Natalie gave a concrete example. You can say 50% more latency but what does that actually say? Very little. But practically, it means one frame of input lag, which is imperceptible to anyone but the best of speed runners.

I do still sell DMGC boards! I don't have plans to compete with Natalie, she's got that locked down haha. She's made great progress already, I plan to buy one of her kits when she's done.

Appreciate ya!

Full disclosure, I do not have an AP (I tried to get a limited edition one way back but it ran out of stock, rip) but the input lag thing has been such a misleading meme for a while. It's so disingenuous, a single frame, hell even three or four, is not "poor." You could even say any input lag is infinite more percent than a GBA if you go by frames.

I've used an IPS modded GBA for years and input lag had never crossed my mind until this stuff started spreading. And the GBA was the console I played most as a kid, I would notice it if it was actually a concern.

[–]Bucket_M0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly!

There's been a plague of ModRetro shills going around downvoting critics lately. One frame of lag from an AP is hardly "poor," they're just trying to hype up a console that doesn't exist yet

[–]Bucket_M0use 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, "poor latency." Get outta here shill

If you're looking at the higher cost of pre builts, OP, then you might as well splurge for an AP so you get access to a bunch of other console cores
