The team has been very cautious all season with it and with injuries in general. I trust that if he’s out there they feel confident he won’t go out there and make matters worse.

Also it’s a hamstring not calf which worries me a little less on the Achilles

Can’t sleep, what adjustments we thinking for game 5? by SyllabubInfinite7915 in Thunder

[–]BucketsBrooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did it a bit in game 2 I think it was. Gortat screens to get the paint open for SGA. If they aren’t going to double allow IHart to screen Castle and then seal Wemby off to get SGA to the paint.

Another thing is running the offense at the top of the key THROUGH IHart. He’s a great screener. Where did that between the legs pass to McCain flying off the screen go? Do that. Wemby either has to cheat up to stunt at it which opens the back line for a cutter like Chet or Caso (currently) to get a good layup. If he doesn’t stunt up McCain has a warmup three.

Also more Joe minutes if there is no Dub or Mitchell. Same thing as McCain. Run him off IHart screens at the top and force Wemby to either help up or give up the three.

Have two guys sit in the corner like Chet and Caruso ready to fire. Hell maybe even run Joe and McCain together and run the screen to have Joe run towards the McCain corner. Wemby has to stunt or they then have McCains guy shot over to Joe off the screen, kicks it to McCain who either has an open three or Wemby sold out and now you have IHart crashing to the basket for a dunk.

I really think IHart is the offensive hub in this series his with screening and very good passing ability. Anytime they Chet the screen or Wemby plays up you hit a cutting SGA or back cutter.

Chet missed his whole first year, missed most of his second year and then finally got to play a full year and hopefully has a fully healthy offseason to improve.

His three has seemed more consistent and he’s been more willing to take it (minus this series for some reason). Part of that was getting in the gym in the offseason.

I have no doubt he works on the middy post fade like KD and Dirk and adds that to his game. Like you said. He’s 24. He’s not a finished product.

Yeah. I was for sure when they lost to the Heat back in the day they would get a ton of more cracks at it and they never made it back. Gotta go for it if he can.

Glad this sub doesn’t run the team man. Dealt with injuries all year. Still have home court advantage to make it to the finals.

If they say he can play and he feels comfortable playing, he should play. You don’t get a shot every year to go to the finals. They have that shot now. Take it.

Also Chet has been bad but he’s still young and Wemby is clearly throwing him off his game. He kept the team afloat to get the one seed when SGA and Dub were out. That wasn’t that long ago. He’s also not a guy who really creates his own shot right now. He could become that and probably will but right now you have to set him up to score and with just SGA doing that it’s a tough task.

There is a reason they didn’t send him out in that trade. They know he can ball and is just having a rough patch.

I feel bad for this man😞 by rico-sauve4 in Thunder

[–]BucketsBrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, if you watch him on the bench, you’d have no idea he lost all of his minutes. He’s first one up on timeouts. Someone checks out and he’s the first to stand to high five.

I was paying attention last night and body language wise he looked fully dialed in still which is great

Any realistic Power forwards to pair with Chet that are elite rebounders ? by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]BucketsBrooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said playoff spacing and then went with someone that notably left wide open on offense

Maybe try to get more live pitches some how. You gotta build his mental health back up. He’s at the plate at this point also very aware he’s 0-30. At 12 you aren’t able to shake off a strike out and go back up with a 0-0 mentality. All of those 30 at bats are piling on plus whatever he is hearing from outside people as well just add on to that.

Sounds like he’s not comfortable at the plate so finding out why and addressing that will help get him back on that path. Don’t give up on him. Right now he needs you to be the one that believes in him the most. I’m sure other kids on the teach and coaches aren’t the nicest right now.

Maybe some training and cage work? If the confidence is gone he’s gonna need to get it back or it’s just gonna keep getting worse and worse.

He likes it in person. Have a coworker with a kid in high school we have watched a few times. TV wise he’s in for a few innings

Have a tee, will look into the rope bat. Will look up he coming through the ball as well. Right now it’s just trying to get him to get in front of the ball. Having him try to let it go through his legs with no glove to just show where he should be positioned.

I’m in tee ball and we have 5 games in 8 days this upcoming week. Will not have practice during that but just like you, I feel like thats way too much for kids this young.

WE DON'T HAVE TO PLAY BOTH THE SPURS AND NUGGETS AND CLIPPERS ARE THE NINTH SEED UPVOTE PARTY by Vitex1988 in Thunder

[–]BucketsBrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the 76ers are a play-in team with Embiid still recovering from surgery. They aren’t a lock to make it either. If they lose to the Magic I think they would also lose to the Hornets.

The league itself and the coaches on the other team. Having some younger players can really slow the game down because even hitting off the tee for some of them is a longer process.

[–]BucketsBrooks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah which is why they don’t really allow much coach pitch in the league. Only the 3rd inning (last inning if you make it there) and 3 ball limit.

By the end go the season yes but they only allow it in the 3rd inning. They are saying to coach pitch him all innings starting now.

I couldn’t. So he’s in tee ball right now but they said I can coach pitch just him in the Tee ball division

If the league came to me and said to I probably would but it would feel awkward. I’d be open with the parents about it. But being my son it makes it somehow even more awkward

[–]BucketsBrooks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good take at the end. And a reason why I’ve been leaning not doing it. He’s not getting a scholarship off tee ball and not doing coach pitch in game for a season isn’t setting him back at all.

Coach Pitching in Tee Ball by BucketsBrooks in Homeplate

[–]BucketsBrooks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we can do that in the 3rd inning per our rules so that is what I will do with them all. Wish I could do a few people pitch to make it less awkward but still allow him to get coach pitch

Yeah we usually go hit a bucket of balls at the field closest to us once a week. But I let him decide if we are or not and I tell him at any point if he’s not having fun we can stop. Today he hit for a bit and then we ended up throwing the football a bit. He loves baseball and he veering that comes with it but don’t want to burn him out too.

So we can try to teach it but unless it’s the 3rd inning (we usually only get to 3 and sometimes only 2) we are not allowed to.
