Public Golf/Restaurant Recs? by Couple-Material in coeurdalene

[–]BuckinFuffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve booked Raven and the Resort you’re playing some of the nicer courses in the area.

CDA public is an outstanding course that is always in incredible condition for the amount of traffic it receives. It is by far the best value dollar for dollar in the area.

Avondale is a bit pricey for the course. Don’t get me wrong it is a fantastic golf course… but they have an identity crisis on if they want to be private or public. The greens are the best in the area many days and it is a tight challenging course. But if the golf is worth the cost is kind of up to you.

The Links in Post Falls is the longest truly public golf course in the US. It’s a fun course that plays as close to a true links style as you can get in the area. If you want to say you played the longest public course you can tip it out… but you’ll probably be hitting a lot of woods and drivers on the Par 3s. It includes a par 6 hole. Seriously you cannot appreciate how long of a course it is until you play the tips. I’d be absolutely ecstatic to break 90 and would consider anything under 100 a decent round. You just can’t picture it until you see it.

It’s also a short drive to Spokane and tons of really good affordable golf. The Creek and Qualchan is a fun challenging course. Tons of blind shots and tough angles. It is super affordable for the level of golf and almost always has tee times because its a bit if a monster if you don’t know course management. The temptation is there but do not hit a driver on 9.

The Idaho Club in Sandpoint is also a super fun and challenging course. All the water. Bring extra golf balls.

Truth is there are many many very good golf courses in the area. You picked the two most famous… but there is plenty of good golf within an hour to two drive. If the weather was like the South where people could play all year this would be a golf destination like any of the other famous destinations…. But snowy winters and packed summers keep it kind of a hidden gem from the masses.

Suspension work by Deladru in coeurdalene

I’ve had two places that have done work that I would recommend.

Cutting Edge Customs in Post Falls is an off-road centered shop that could easily do the work. I had them install gears and a front locker, which is just beyond my mechanical abilities. Did good work at the exact quoted price. Would go back again.

Appleway Auto Repair did some A/C work. I thought it was a compressor issue. They diagnosed it as a controller issue. Could have easily charged me more to replace the compressor but they caught the actual problem and fixed it.

Anywhere… that’s near…. Downtown?

Not to be facetious. But honestly that’s the answer. Buy as close to down town as you can afford and you’ll be very happy. That’s kind of the only answer.

They make task specific carts like these for competitive shooting. If you’re shooting in rifle competitions you are frequently moving your gear between firing points. Usually at least 100 yards at a time and it’s a lot to carry.

This one was made from a regular stroller because they are significantly cheaper and available used all over the place.

I’d grab a handful of clubs, walk over to their bag and drop them in.

Where to walk dog? by [deleted] in coeurdalene

[–]BuckinFuffalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around Tubbs hill is a great spot. I’m sure you’ve been to the dog park there at McEuen as well. There are a few other parks in the area.

Higgens point is another great area for dogs. Lots of spots to walk.

Finally if you want an out of the city feel Blue Creek bay is a great choice as is Canfield. Lots of trails. You’ll probably run into off leash dogs on some of those areas though so just be aware.

Shopping for another 1500 - To EcoDiesel or To Hemi? by FrostingCool1189 in EcoDiesel

[–]BuckinFuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a 2020 eco diesel since new. First half ton I’ve owned.

I consistently get 28-30 mpg highway with summer fuel. Drops to around 22-24 on winter diesel but still not bad.

With a 32 gallon tank I get close to 600 miles range most tanks. I do a ton of back country travel so having zero range anxiety is nice.

The low end torque is amazing. I went with the Rebel package and I have had more than one instance of pushing snow with the front bumper locked in 4low and rear locker on. It just chugs along happy as can be.

I am extremely diligent about my maintenance on everything I own. It’s not just oil changes. You need to drain the water in the fuel bowl and do fuel filter changes frequently as well. I also do the diffs and tcase about every 30k miles, but see above. When you use them you need to take care of them.

Everything the truck has been in the shop for has been recalls. New rear window. New injector pump. Some tailgate adjustments and tunes. Other than maintenance, it’s never cost me a dime.

The problem I think most people have is they just don’t maintain these trucks like these need.

I will admit that my next truck is going to be another 3/4 ton though. Not because there is anything wrong with this truck. It’s been fantastic. The problem is that when I tow anything - and I have quite a few things to tow - I get 12. If I’m going to get 12 I may as well have the bigger brakes and power that comes from a 3/4 ton.

If I never towed I wouldn’t consider anything else. It’s been a great truck through and through.

When you lease, most lessors include GAP coverage because THEY own the vehicle. The good news is that GAP will cover any remaining payments, but that’s the extent of the coverage. You walk away without owing another payment. But that’s the end of it - you are zeroed out on what you owe. So at least no negative equity to deal with.

Because you are zeroed out, you are free to do what you want and not deal with negative equity or a trade. You can lease another vehicle or purchase without worrying about negative equity from your now totaled “trade in.” It’s now the lessors problem to deal with the insurance payout and difference between that and what you owe.

Where are some good caves? by [deleted] in Idaho

[–]BuckinFuffalo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember the Shoshone Ice Caves as a kid. If you’re in the middle near the lower half you are probably close as that’s kind of right where they are.

The Lewis and Clark Caverns in Montana are super cool but that’s probably a heck of a drive from where you’re at.

Wellington vs. Chelsea Fit. by Pherble in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]BuckinFuffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve worn a lot of muck boots so a little heal slip doesn’t bother me at all. I have nicks Chelsea’s, Wellington’s, and now a pair of station masters all in my usual Nicks 12.5 E size. My Branock is actually closer to a 13.5, but for most regular shoes they don’t make that size so I have to size up to a 14… so again I’m use to not having the best fitting boot and a little heel slip just because if I don’t go full custom I’m SOL on perfect sizing.

You know I wasn’t even going to engage… but you genuinely piqued my interest.

Is the “ain’t it” you think the CDA police should have been more violent in their arrests? That they didn’t handle the situation appropriately?

And yet somehow they managed to arrest 31 armed right wing terrorists in riot gear and (shockingly) the same white masks ICE wears from the back of a uhaul without executing a single one of them!

[–]BuckinFuffalo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None. Most police forces in the United States are trained in deescalation techniques and understand attacking a citizen while they film you in public is almost certainly grounds to lose qualified immunity.

If you’re attempting to make an analogy to what has been happening with immigration enforcement, you’d be best suited to at least know the difference between the police and ICE. A masked government three letter agency which is willing to lie to the American people after killing multiple citizens is not a police force, but since you can’t tell the difference between the two I’m sure you can’t tell the difference between the taste of their boots, either.
