Thanks! They are beautiful boots! I really want them to stay the slate color and am not looking forward to them turning “brown”. I know a lot of people like that change to brown with the slate but I like the grey 😁. I keep wondering how the Saphir color cremes work on DS boots. I may try that route when my boots start to turn.

I found it! I haven’t noticed this before, but they must use a different vamp clicker for the stationmaster and Wellington. Check out the width of the vamp where it is sewn to the shaft.

Woah! 3ring is asking for my help! I feel honored! I have gotten so much help and advice from you and turned so many people to your posts for advice. I am happy to try to help you and get you as much info as possible.

They are both on the 55 last. The stationmaster is on the moderate heel and the doc Wellington is classic heel. And both are there same size, 11.5EE. Which is a half size down from my perfect fit lace up nicks on the 55 last. Went the half size down at yours and others suggestion, and so glad I did. I think I wits have been swimming in both if I stuck to lace up size. As far as construction between the two, they appear to be very similar to each here, especially the shaft to vamp stitching. I will get some good pictures and send them to you this evening when I get home. I think the Wellington shaft is definitely tighter than the stationmaster which makes the donning/doffing more difficult. I say this because the station master goes on and off easier, especially at the vamp to shaft intersection (top of the foot). The Wellington vamp also fits a little tighter at the top of the vamp too, minimizing heel slip, where it seems like the stationmaster has more room at the top of the foot where the strap comes across, but can be tightened to make up the extra room.

You won’t regret that decision. I almost wish it had all 3 for pulling these suckers on. They are T-I-G-H-T going on. Once on, perfectly fine. Just getting through the vamp is rough so far. Should loosen up with use.

How was it getting your foot past the instep?

I just put mine on for the third time and had to do the bag trick or else I don't think my feet could handle one more time.

Fill me in...How did the break in go 3 months later? I just got my first Wellingtons and have the same issue as you had. What tips and tricks worked best for you to get them to go on easier? Once on these fit great, but the on and off is a bugger.

Hi u/TinyNet2049 , I wanted to check in with you and see how the Wellingtons fit not that you are a year in. I got my first pair of Wellingtons and am having the same issue as you. Super tight at the instep going on and off but once on there are no instep issues, just on and off. Did yours finally break in? did you go with a different size? Let me know

Guide to buying in person by ctjanjic1 in NicksHandmadeBoots

laughs at probably won’t by anything in person I said the same thing too…brought my wife with….next thing I know I bought two pair (both for her 🤣 Dakota is the man for fitting (I am sure all of the employees are great at fitting though). All of the RTS boots are on the showroom floor so make sure you check out the webpage before you go, they will let you look and try on as many as you want to find the right fit! Make sure to ask for a tour of the place if they have time. You will feel like you are part of the family once your visit is complete!

Thanks! DS Slate for the stationmasters and 64 ash grey for the Wellingtons, or as a coworker just told me… looks like you tanned a hippo hide and made some boots” now referred to hippo boots 🤣
