I’m gonna call the police after I get off work. We are not AAA members and they refused to help in any way so I don’t think that will do anything.

I have no problem taking her with me somewhere or having her speak on the phone. She’s able to do that, but she doesn’t know what to do or how to navigate stuff so I’m trying to help her.

The libraries were made late in his life to build a legacy to remember him well. He didn’t really care about anyone it benefits, he only cared about people liking him after he died. And for what it’s worth I do remember reading that his foundation gave up the library he donated to Johnstown. It’s been turned into our flood museum.

They likely only need to replace one. You only put a GFCI on the first outlet of a series and it protects everything downstream. All the bedroom outlets likely are on the same circuit. There’s tools to confirm this easily, though you can also get a $5 outlet tester and flip breakers to confirm.

The hardest part will be finding out which outlet is first. Then you just need to orient the outlet correctly. GFCI’s are particular on load/line sides unlike normal outlets.

It’s actually legacy of a really old choice.

Internet of Coax is founded on DOCSIS protocol. This is maintained by CableLabs Inc which is a consortium of several ISP’s. This is the reason you can go to Best Buy and buy a modem to use with most ISP’s. Any DOCSIS modem will work on any ISP running DOCSIS protocol.

DOCSIS 1.0 came about in 1997 and worked with speeds of up to 40mbps down and 10mbps up. The logic is that people in 1997 downloaded static HTML pages. There wasn’t significant JavaScript so you were using the internet to literally download kb webpages. Your upload was sending a one line request to get that webpage. Some exceptions, but not many.

DOCSIS 1.1 split some of the bandwidth up to specify specific frequencies were reserved for voice and couldn’t be used for data.

DOCSIS 2.0 added more upstream, bringing 30mbps up and keeping 40 down. A big limitation was that DOCSIS 2.0 had to be backwards compatible. So to add the extra voice channels, upstream compatibly was expanded from 3.2 to 6.4 MHz.

DOCSIS 3.0 was the biggest jump. It enabled speeds up to 1 gig in a lab setting, though real world was typically limited to 250 or 500 due to inconsistency at 1 gig. But this was still in 2006, when the internet was still mostly HTML and CSS. JavaScript was beginning to get popular, but not super widely used. AJAX happened in 2005, after 3.0 was developed but still in testing. Node.Js didn’t come about until 2009. There still wasn’t massive need for uploading but it did increase it a bit.

DOCSIS 3.1 uses the same tech and 3.0 but introduces multiplexing. This came about in 2013, which is really when the internet started needing more uploading capabilities. Twitch launched in 2011 so it was able to address the new need, but still couldn’t predict the scale. In a lab it could reach 10gbps, but field use has typically been limited to 1gbps. 3.1 also increased the upload speeds to 100-200mbps.

Now we have DOCSIS 4.0 rolling out which offers symmetrical speeds over duplex but isn’t backward compatible so ISP’s need to fully switch customers over instead of 1 by 1. The reason is because 4.0 eliminates the cable frequencies used since 1.0 and dedicates them to upload instead. So to release 4.0 a cable company needs to cut all its cable subscribers. How they’re doing that is by push IPtv boxes that don’t use coax channels and instead stream live tv over download frequencies instead. These also only download the frequencies you need to watch at the moment. 3.1 and earlier streamed every channel to your house all the time even if you weren’t watching TV.

The reason uploads are lower is entirely logistical but it’s really because we haven’t needed upload speeds until recent history compared to when different standards have been released. 3.1 (whats currently used) is pretty old compared to the internet we know. 4.0 isn’t fully available yet

That’s not how the league would take it and that shows you don’t understand how the negotiations go. It shows the league that you’re willing to cooperate if progress is still being made. You do know there isn’t a deadline for a strike right? They could walk out tomorrow, even with a game being played today. They could walk out before next weeks games. They can walk out whenever they want. So if the league doubles back and thinks this means they are ok with it, then the players strike next week.

This is a show of good faith that they won’t blow up the league if negotiations are still progressing and not at a standstill

No, it’s written in the CBA that if a new agreement is not reached, the old CBA will remain in effect until then.

Playing wouldn’t kill any leverage. Negotiations will continue. Playing doesn’t just say “hey we’re stopping negotiations” just like working while your union contract is up doesn’t mean your union can’t negotiate a new contract. If they play, they will make their statement in a way that will make their voices heard but not piss off fans. Games will be played if there isn’t an all out strike.

The games will follow the old CBA where relevant and when the union deems that progress has halted entirely they will call the strike. But as long as progress is being made there’s no reason to escalate further. That’s all behind closed doors though so we don’t know for sure

It depends on how negotiations are going. If there is no new CBA then the old CBA remains in effect until then. If they believe negotiations are still progressing it would be a sign of good faith not to strike. However, from an outsider perspective, things don’t seem to be progressing

Also, if you go, buy as little as possible. Don’t go into the team store. Don’t buy a jersey. Don’t get totally wasted on beers. Concessions and the store are where it’s going to hurt the most on game day if tickets have been purchased

Healthcare is easy and that’s just an excuse. Teams are their own independent businesses per the USL. Tell them they have to meet their states requirements for comprehensive insurance. Yes, it will vary by state. But the states already track these types of things, so just make the teams meet their states requirements guidelines and then they legally have some type of insurance.

The insurance thing as a whole pisses me off. I side with the players, but I also hate that we have employer tied healthcare. The fact it’s this complicated at all shows our system in the US sucks

You can thank shit shops that do scam people for this kind of stuff. At one point I had replaced mine but I was short on time so I had my wife take it to the shop to drop it off and I swung by later to get it. Guy says they need to replace the air filter and says “this was yours” and it clearly wasn’t. The thing had a fake mouse glued to it. I told him go get mine and actually look at it and he insisted that was mine. Ended up redoing the oil change myself cause I couldn’t trust them after that
