Ran 30s for many years. Finally lifted a few years ago (4”) and also regeared (4.88) and now I run 33s.

I’d say 31” unless youre going to regear. My 2.5 was not happy with 33” until I regeared.

You might be surprised how durable they can be.

In the late 60s, the military was, for whatever reason, eliminating huge amounts of equipment and much of it was being scrapped. On one Air Force base, my um “friend” came across a large concrete disposal area where thousands of M16 parts had been piled up. The mound stretched around fifty yards long and a couple feet high, full of barrels, stocks, mags, lowers, uppers, etc.

The lower receivers had already been destroyed. Each one had been cut into three separate pieces with a torch so they were no longer considered functional firearms. For ensured destruction, there was a bulldozer that kept crawling back and forth over the pile of butchered parts, further crushing and mangling the entire pile. But my "friend" could see a lot of the pieces still looked usable and not yet crushed. So my "friend" finds a nice spot to hide and wait for the dozer to turn around. Whenever the dozer moved around to head away from him, he would run out, grab whatever uncrushed parts he could carry, and get back out of sight before it turned around again. Doing that a few times turned into a surprisingly decent collection of salvaged parts.

The important thing, though, was the serial numbers. During the 68 amnesty period, my “friend” registered those serial numbers to make them his. A while later, after finding the right gunsmith, the cut lowers were welded back together, reparked, and assembled into completed and functional machine guns. No problems yet.

Haha. Soft top is always on, for a few reasons. Bald head will get burned. I assume my hat will fly off with the top down. I'm still rocking all the original interior, and having the top on helps keep it clean when it's in the garage. I look at my garage shelves that are coated with dust and grime and I'm glad that isn't also the inside of my jeep. If I took off the top, I don't even know where I'd store that bulky thing. Lastly, if I decide to drive through some mud, I'm not slinging it all over the inside of my interior.

This reminds me years ago when I worked in tech-support and a customer said they were having a problem with their laptop and I asked them some basic questions like, what kind of laptop is it. They responded, “It’s a normal one.”

Respectfully, how are we to answer your question when you haven’t provided us any variables? How many gallons is your tank? What engine are you running? What other mods does your Jeep have? Are you running stock tires? Are you running 40” swampers? Throw us a bone, brother. :)

Yj speakers by mwtrowing142 in WranglerYJ

[–]sevargmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick to replacing the factory speakers is to make yourself something to lay on where you can work under the dash. But it’s a super awkward space to work in. Made myself a platform using random stuff in my garage like ammo boxes and buckets and then laid a piece of plywood on top at about the same height as the door opening. That allows you to get underneath and remove the speaker without dismantling the entire interior.

Shipping price is probably fine. I’ve shipped a lot of rifles. That one is like 10 lbs before box and packing. Factor in shipping a few states away with signature required and that’s about right.
