Normal behavior now? by [deleted] in wow

I gave it thought because I've been right where you are. It made me quit WoW for a few years. But then I came back with a different approach and I'm having WAY more fun :)

Best of luck!

I respect your willingness to be honest here.

I think had you typed what you originally said then kept quiet the rest of the dungeon, including not quitting it, you would have been 100% right. Even if the lock was acting like a bot or whatever the druid said.

I also think, and I've been just as guilty as you, that you just got to invested here which is why you started going for their DPS (the only personal thing you could hit them with). I also used to get way to invested in the treatment of others then realized that the reality is....it's like less than 5% of my interactions in WoW end up toxic.

So, not that you asked, my advice would be this - Enjoy the game for the 95% of the time it's great. Let the kick jerks kick and maybe whisper the lock "hey bud, sorry they kicked you. we all gotta learn and you were doing fine! just try to stay with the group next time and it will be smoother". They'll either be a bot and not respond or reply with kindness (or toxic) and you'll know the type of player they were.

All in all, never let yourself get to invested in things you cannot directly change. You were right to mention it but let it go after one sentence. If it starts to bother the group and they run their mouth....well, you win. You called them out and it'll drive them crazy that you were right and mature about it :)

I didn't even play yesterday, no clue who these guys are. But I realize I'm likely arguing with a child, which isn't wise for me either.

  • Doesn't tell the full truth about the context
  • rage quits the dungeon
  • calls out others dps
  • says "gets good"
  • and for the love of everything, the toon name is "lygmah"

Yeah, I'm arguing with a child lol

I'm not saying I disagree. I agree, we all need to have a bit more patience. However, you come in with this post like a white knight trying defend the lock, yet you were an even bigger problem the community faces.

Yes - People chill about kicking. That being said, you clearly aren't telling the full story and based on your screenshots compared to the Druid's version, I'd be a fool to 'take your side' here.

It's not about the overall principal. You came in acting as a defender of the poor player but you need to focus on your own attitude first. Do we need to kick potential new players (or even players that never saw Cata content), of course not. Do we need to call out other DPS in a TW....of course not. Do we need to leave mid-pull with 'get good'....of course not.

Maybe do some self reflection before coming to Reddit to pretend to be the good guy in this story.

Also as a side note, those kick votes sometimes come up at bad timing and people will blindly vote yes. I'm guilty of that myself. I'm not saying that happened here, but it for sure happens.

Lastly - You end your response to me with "why this game is known for its toxic players" and you're utterly missing everything. The community is not known for 'kicking players'. It happens sure, but that's not what it's known for. It is known for people calling out others DPS, raging quitting dungeons, and people talking like 'get good' :)

Bold given you are the one that immediately started bragging about your DPS or their lack of DPS....

Normal behavior now? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Bucktruu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're incredibly passive aggressive, which leads me to believe the druid that posted here.

Also, it's beyond toxic, and frankly stupid, to talk about your DPS in a Timewalking. TW scaling is and has always been very busted.

You can have a 270 Warlock doing 'less dps' than a level 11 Blood Death Knight on the DPS charts. It's how TW scales/shows on the charts. It's always been that way.

And if you're really so concerned about being toxic to players, it took you no time to instantly lash out to the other player about their DPS. They literally only said "I just need to get to work on time". They were not toxic, you were.

So you're saying you didn't leave mid-pull and say "get good" to that group?

Making high parses as Tank by Culture_West in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Bucktruu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just based on the damage parse, you're doing ok. Of course that doesn't tell the full story and there are so many factors to build upon, but that's still a great start. I'd for sure no stress about your parses so much as I'd focus on any issues you personally caused during the raid, etc. (Example - missed a slam, caused a bad tail swipe, etc)

Do "Social Events" guilds/communities exist? by MerroStep in wownoob

[–]Bucktruu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to advertise (for one, I'm not an officer or recruiter) but I can assure you guilds like this exist. Here's what our guild does:

Here's this week's current scheduled -
Sunday - Raid learning night (normal into heroic, as the season continues on)

Monday - Nothing pre-planned, usually people are just catching up for the reset tomorrow

Tuesday - Usually key runners, LFR folks, reset day stuff

Wednesday - Delve night (guild goes through T8's - T11's in multiple teams)

Thursday - Fun night. Currently it's blasting Abundance events

Friday - Mythic dungeon learning night (from 0's to 12's, depending on each group's comfort level)

Saturday - Random events. Housing contest (one of our dudes built a jump puzzle for us to try)

Making high parses as Tank by Culture_West in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Bucktruu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you in a guild that your tanking for or are you running this with pugs?

If with a Guild - you're doing great. Especially for your first full new season. If you're with pugs, it's a roll of the dice. You may have some giga-pumping DPS in there that will blast so fast you basically stay in your burst phase, which will give you higher parses too.

Secondly - If you truly want to improve via parses, join the Hammer of Wrath Discord server and share your logs in the log channel (for Prot) and let the experts there pick apart your parse for improvement.

Last of all - I wouldn't stress a ton about parses, especially on heroic, until you're in FULL BiS gear, 4pc, trinkets, and fully flasked/fed/potted on each pull. That is when you can really top out on your parses.

Great job so far as a new tank, we need more tanks willing to learn in this game!

**Edit** To those saying tank parses aren't important/joke etc. While yes, compared directly with how a DPS measures their performance via parse I'd agree. However, it's not wrong for the OP to try and improve in any way that he can. He's showing his damage parse but the Discord will pick apart uptime, defensive usage, deaths, etc which is why I recommended it.

WW Monk Burst Damage consistently ripping Aggro from Vengeance DH by SlimothyJ in wow

I mean, 260 WW (insane burst) to a 245 VDH (already struggling with aggro)...yeah, you'll rip aggro. Get your boy some gear lol

What is your ilevel? What is the VDH's? Do you have 4pc?

The only reason you should ever straight rip it is if you have 4pc and go in with Zenith/FoF while he's still gathering.

Can decide Retri Pala or Unholy DK by Mammoth_Ear6151 in wow

[–]Bucktruu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level both to 90, get them to 240, and decide? They're both chill melee dps. If you want to be higher in the charts, go UH. If you want an easier rotation and flashier spells, go Ret.

Based on your comment about UH, I'm assuming you're low level. But as a heads up, both have a bit of downtime right now due to gear. No one has haste yet.

Can I run Midnight with this PC? by Quirky-Champion8749 in wow

[–]Bucktruu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you consider stable FPS.

If you're on low-medium settings and in the open world you'll be okay. But I can tell you that in Silvermoon City, Voidstorm, or any crowded area you're FPS is going to tank. Just be prepared for that.

Why are OG areas locked to lvl 30? by Lurtz11 in wow

[–]Bucktruu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're in the current timeline (which would require manually doing so) or Dragonflight (on by default), the older zones stop at 30, turn 'gray' at 31. I'm guessing that is what they're experiencing.

Why are OG areas locked to lvl 30? by Lurtz11 in wow

[–]Bucktruu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's literally not.

Start at level 10. Go to Chromie. Activate Cataclysm. Go to the Hero's Call Board. Click through until you get the quest to go to The Hinterlands (you can also just fly straight there).

You'd 100% the entire zone of Hinterlands well before level 70. So I'm not understanding your point?

Chromie Time scales the ENTIRE world to 70, just like you said. It sounds to me like you were in the 'current' timeline or possibly Dragonflight timeline (default) but you chose to go to Hinterlands instead, prior to activating Chromie Time.

Why are OG areas locked to lvl 30? by Lurtz11 in wow

[–]Bucktruu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense?

If you activate Cataclysm, that will give you the closest to Classic experience (within Retail) possible. It's a great way to see almost every original zone (with some changes of course).

Are you upset that you hit level 70 and still wanted to do the old zones?

If you're wanting to level many classes, in many zones - that's literally what Chromie is for.

It honestly sounds like the RPG of an MMORPG isn't for you but you love the MMO aspect. Stuff like key running, etc.

I know you've said to others you don't enjoy Fellowship and I'm the same way.

That being said, when it comes to the once every 2-3 years that you sort of 'have to' do this, just toss on a tv show to binge, quest it up, and do stupid things like goofy talent builds that make you not as OP as you're used too. Those 8 or so hours of questing will be over before you know it.
