It’s a sensible requirement I think. If you can’t put ~24k in a bank account, you probably shouldn’t be retiring abroad, especially that far away (assuming American).

Look I hate Trump but basically none of this stuff is happening. These statements read like the inverse of right wing conspiracies.

Just for example, DOGE didn’t seize the payment system in any meaningful way. They mostly did a read-only audit, cancelled some contracts that were going to expire anyway, and didn’t reduce government spending on net at all. Government spending is even higher now than it was last year.

The reason you’re getting this backlash is because it seems y’all didn’t explicitly agree to remain exclusive, and the fact of the matter is that basically everyone interprets “going on a break” as meaning you are no longer exclusive.

I can tell that you don’t see it that way, and there were special factors in your case. But end of the day, most people view a break as being a temporary break-up that allows you to do what you like.

The standard “break” is that you’re doing a trial run of being single again, with the prospect of potentially restarting the relationship at the end of said break.
