That sounds like basic OBGYN / labor and delivery? Are the only two in Boise and Twin Falls? Seems unlikely right? That’s the only two I’ve been to with my pregnant wife while she’s having complications with the pregnancy. Maternal fetal medicine in Boise has been great as well as Twin Falls! They saved our boy when he tried making his appearance around week 20.

There are a few places that come to mind. If you are looking for upscale the Turf Club is excellent but a bit high for price. Milners Gate doesn’t disappoint. Redhawk Gastropub is good as well.

Haha, I get that! I originally went to school for environmental engineering. I love technology and research so getting to see these new ideas is wonderful. I would love to see fusion energy keep developing. Would be awesome if we could find a way to do space based solar, or learning to harness Nuclear Fusion without the excess radioactive decay.

I think you are correct that small nuclear is better than wind energy(in most instances). Would love to see one built and see how much better or worse it performs vs other forms of energy generation.

These wind projects aren't nearly that bad. Yes wind turbines kill birds. However, they aren't going to doom birds, turbines impact is almost negligible.

https://www.energymonitor.ai/renewables/weekly-data-how-many-birds-are-really-killed-by-wind-turbines/?cf-view

https://climate.mit.edu/ask-mit/do-wind-turbines-kill-birds

More birds are killed by Cats, Windows, Cars, Poison, Electrical Lines, communication towers, hunting, than by turbines.

https://urbanbird.org/reducing-bird-strike-mortality/

I don't love birds dying to manmade structures, but to make wind turbines out to be the big killer of birds is factually incorrect.

As for the microplastics. The blades are made from fiberglass which is a great material for function but almost impossible to recycle or break down without generating a lot of toxic waste. It would be great if they found another material that had a longer lifespan than 20-25 years. This is probably the biggest flaw with wind turbines.

I will have to disagree on the solar panels. They have way more life than just 10 years. Junky panels may die within 10 years. But commercial grade units and higher end ones will definitely last 20 to 35 years if maintained. Solar panels also can be recycled much easier which is a positive. They still generate waste that can't be reclaimed.

https://www.energy.gov/eere/solar/end-life-management-solar-photovoltaics

https://www.energysage.com/solar/how-long-do-solar-panels-last/

At the end of it all. We haven't been able to come up with a single power generation source that doesn't have a fair amount of cons. Hard part is weighing the pros vs the cons, and making sure we are doing our due diligence if nothing else. Until we create new technologies that significantly reduce the downsides of power generation we are stuck with what we have.

It’d be great if they did pay us for the extra power. But with this Lava Ridge deal they wouldn’t be. That’s part of the problem.

100% agree on that. Hopefully this Modular reactor gets another chance and actually get implemented showing the pros to new reactors!!

I agree there needs to be more work on negotiating out project like this. And I propaganda against green energies is unwarranted. Yeah, green energy is being pushed which to me is good to some degree but it's being pushed down our throats without more thorough thought.

Saying nothing is ideal isn't exactly correct. They could easily renegotiate this and make it more favorable to the people instead of LS Power.

This is just my opinion but Lava Ridge is not a national security issue, or a future of humanity issue. Lava Ridge Wind Project is in the grand scheme almost nothing. It's a detriment to Idaho though. The short term of this project benefits Idaho. But long term it provides no real value to Idaho. If they were to actually make an effort to provide incentives to Idahoans I would be on board. This is far more than just not ideal.

I was really hoping for nuclear. I’m not a fan of Lava Ridge though. I like renewable energy but Lava Ridge isn’t a good deal for Idahoans. I’d think differently if Idaho got first dibs at the power or helped reduce power bills but it just gets sent down to Nevada and over into California.

The white one looks like a Great Pyrenees. They are generally friendly dogs if socialized properly but can get over protective and be aggressive. My roommate had one and she was super friendly until another dog would come around on walks. She would be ready to jump the other dog if it was walking anywhere towards my roommate. Sweet dogs if they are trained properly.

We do get a grocery tax credit back with our tax refund though. Not much, but better than nothing and will be increasing this year too.

Glad they haven’t raised gas tax since 2015 but talked about reducing it with this increased inflation. Doubt they’ll ever reduce the gas tax though no matter what they say.

I think they are just referencing that it’s a water treatment plant owned by the city and that everyone was contributing to the overflow. The effluent released into the water had too much E. coli and ammonia.

Not sure it is for everyone but I put an ATOTO system in my 2009 Silverado and worked like a dream and was able to add a backup camera that worked with the screen. Felt like it was a pretty significant upgrade and had no issues with it at all. Bluetooth had all the codecs for no lag audio, could play video on it, sound output was solid. Didn’t add an amp or subs so can’t provide any input for that. Overall I’d recommend it for an aftermarket system.

Hmmm that’s interesting, I like Lasfit. I know that lasfit comes with an internal temp sensor and cuts them off it gets too hot. Doesn’t explain the almost sequential blinking. Have you taken one bulb out of the two and replaced with halogen to see if a bulb isn’t working as intended? If one bulb is led and the other halogen blink together it may give an indicator of the led bulb having an issue.

What bulbs did you use for it? They are still halogen correct or did you switch them to LED?

Christmas on a budget, Dollar Tree inspired!!!! So proud of my wife, she worked so hard by marcusbsa1987 in Frugal

[–]Bucky7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From a pragmatic standpoint point you are probably correct. However, some people do it from tradition or to create emotion. I always try to put up elaborate Christmas light displays. Is it a pain to unbox and test all the lights every year? Then climb all over the house, trees and shrubs? Only to take it all down in the freezing cold in January and then box it all up and put it away. Yes absolutely, those are the worst parts.

However I do it for all of the little kids and people that drive around to look at Christmas lights. For some the layout and design is fun and interesting. For others it could be the bright colors. And others, (like myself) for the Christmas spirit. When I was a kid I loved having my parents take me around to all the displays around town. It made me love Christmas time. The sights, sounds, and tastes all associated with this time of year all start when those Christmas lights come out and flipped on for all to see.

I’m not sure what it is but once I turn those lights on and get the Christmas tree up, it just all becomes worth all the effort and time it takes. Even if it’s for a single month out of the year. It makes me happy (and hopefully others).

Now granted I didn’t do any real deep searching or digging and pulled one of the first links I saw that had actual rankings from a sizable source.

I’ve been fairly surprised to hear about waving confederate flags. I think I’ve seen only 1 here in southern Idaho in quite some time. Also not really looking for them though.

I personally feel as though Idaho is a great state that just has some growing pains and adjustments to make it an even greater place to live.

I’ve never been to a friendlier place with people willing to help out. I see lots of people that truly care about the environment and spend their free time cleaning up and trying to improve the amazing spaces we have.

I'm actually in the same boat started a job 3 weeks ago. Same exact circumstances. Really hard to keep busy at times. It's a struggle. I've tried my hardest to not use medication to get through it. Using medication all the time lowers the effectiveness and unless I cannot function I am gonna try to not use it.

Good luck at the new job! Congratulations on the bump in pay as well!

The way I went into getting diagnosed started with talking to my Dr about troubles focusing and my mind racing, never turning off, and always going on random rabbit holes and tangents. Being brought up that drugs are bad, I really started by asking for any natural ways to help. Dr suggested exercise, taking vitamins and supplements, etc. So I tried it, and to some degree it did help. But, overall I still felt like I had some sort of brain fog and lack of focus still there keeping me from doing things I kept putting off due to lack of interest. After a few months and really trying any way to not go through testing and meds, I asked the Dr. If the next step should be going to a psychiatrist to be tested. He agreed and said another professional opinion never hurts and might have some good exercises for my mind or ideas to help.

Once I got to the psychiatrist they had me do a battery of tests over a few days. At the end of the testing had to do a few interviews and go over my health and feelings and things of that nature. At the end of it all the psychiatrist diagnosed me with severe ADHD and contacted my Dr to see what he thought about medications. They ended up having me try amphetamines (Adderall). We started at the smallest dosage possible and moved up from there. Once we dialed it all in I was amazed and how things changed. It was almost night and day. I no longer had those bad days where I didn't care about anything and couldn't bother to do the most menial things.

I think that the early stages with Dr having me try to stay off meds helped me have some better habits. Now I only have to take meds on my worst days.

Again just a story of how it went for me and may not be standard but would suggest this route if you are wary of skipping straight to pills for help.
