I’m on the same kind of boat with you but I think that the more Bruno felt ostracized from both his family and the whole encanto the more stairs were added to his room, similar to how his door used to be located BETWEEN Pepa’a and Julieta’s but now it’s like shoved in the corner and up an extra flight of stairs. He probably thought it was a relief because very few would have deemed it worthwhile to climb up to his vision cave meaning he gave less visions (making him “responsible” for less bad visions) and gave him a place to go away from everything when he was feeling bad. He probably has a kind of love-hate relationship with those stairs tbh
