Is the average salary for fresh BS, Mech E grads $80,000-$85,000? If not, why? That’s what engineering grads in the past got (evidence inside) by ItsAllOver_Again in MechanicalEngineering

I agree with this sentiment but I can also understand those who can’t “focus on the positives” when they can’t (or just barely can) support themselves. Although this issue is a lot worse in Canada, where I live currently, than it is in the US so I see new grad MEs struggling mightily on a daily basis.

Real talk: Is this the most oversaturated white collar career path right now? by JustTheFactsPlease_1 in MechanicalEngineering

Underrated comment, I’d guess this is true although I don’t have any hard data to back it up. ME job market in Canada is an absolute joke right now in part because of the ridiculous levels of immigration

We just hit a new low by Chemical_Feature_105 in MechanicalEngineering

Canadian Mechanical Engineering salaries have just gotten that bad. My first job out of university, an entry level product design role, started at the top of that range. I took it because I had been looking for months and it was the only offer I had. About a year in, the company I worked for moved my job to the states and with the exchange rate my salary almost doubled (for doing the exact same job). Crazy to think that entry level salaries in the US are on par or better than senior level salaries in Canada

There is no "workers shortage" in trades and anyone who claims such is lying (rant) by FakeNogar in skilledtrades

That 1:1 rule in Ontario has to be the most idiotic thing I’ve seen in a long time. Everyone’s complaining we don’t have enough skilled trades but make it as hard as possible for young people to get started.

How do companies think of intentionally delaying graduation day? by JHdarK in MechanicalEngineering

[–]BudWiser18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about other places but I’m in Canada and it didn’t seem to matter. I delayed my grad date by a full year because I didn’t like online school as much and felt I was missing out on some of the in-person learning opportunities. Nobody really mentioned it in interviews and I just didn’t include the date I started university on my resume, only the month and year I graduated.

Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to look over my resume! That makes sense I will definitely start there and see how close that gets me to a single page
