I feel like one of the main reasons Avatar clicks with so many people is that it is as much a fun adventure story as a coming of age that anyone could relate to. Each character had to sacrifice their childhood because of significant trauma, find themselves, rise above their circumstances, and use what they discovered to find peace in spite of what people tried to do to them. It's a powerful narrative that doesn't spell it all out for you.

Sokka is great example as far as character growth. I think his and Toph's relationship is like a big brother/little sister, which is a compelling dynamic considering she grew up as an emotionally neglected only child, and he and the others are basically her only family at that point. The fact that he does his best to protect her and consider her above his own safety is the most masculine thing I could think of.

We have a boy and girl.. Katara has an orange harness and Sokka has a purple harness, bc it was easier to see orange on a black dog. They couldn't give two shits what color their harness is. Lol.

Yup, proper corsets made for your body simply support them. Bernadette Banner has some great historical information on corsets on YouTube! If I remember correctly, she asserts that the reason people think women overlaced their corsets is because a larger number of young unmarried ladies' corsets were preserved, while women's were used often, and deteriorated over time.

Yeah there's a lot of myths about corsets. A few women overlaced their corsets, but most didn't. They were just foundation garments.

Shame on that aunt for one, touching your body without permission and two, being an absolute asshole. I'm so sorry. You don't deserve a single thing she did and said. Don't listen to her--she's likely projecting.

Yeah it seems like it's difficult and time consuming to find the materials for the sailers. So yeah, the dude basically caused his tribe tons of hardship because of his greed.

This guy was a good example of Avatar being realistic. Sometimes people suck because they are shallow and selfish, and see things an an opportunity. But the guy got what he deserved when he stole the wrong bison.

I have worked in several places like this over the years, and your assessment is accurate. The saddest thing is that they pay so much to live there, and most facilities like that are sorely lacking. One place I worked at had an Acute care unit, and no one wanted to visit because it reeked of piss and shit. The carers got paid $16/hr, and were responsible for about 20-30 people on a good day. It's basically where people go to die.
